Default Crashing your desktop?

Hi all,
I use takephone, datebk6, 4cast, rescobkup, xlauncher, profile care, writenow!,PDAbs, mobileclock, ultrasoft money and datashield, google maps, palm revolt, and well i think thats it. anyways, my desktop at work has completely screwed up. when ever I try to print something from word, excel etc., it restarts the program. not the computer itself. ANyways, our IT says he is going to have to rebuild my computer and has advised me to stay away from 3rd party software for my treo. He told downloading all this different stuff may have been the cause. I do download trial stuff at times and a few freebies as well, but usually end up deleting. Anyways, has anyone else experienced anything like this?

Your IT person is ignorant. Nothing more, nothing less. I suggest he uninstall the printer, reset the computer and reinstall it. Ben

Did you or your IT person scan for viruses?

Thanks for the feedback. My printer is a network printer installed on the server. No printer software on my station. My outlook is all screwed up too. When I first lainch it, it takes forever. it restarts when I go to send. SOme programs wont even open, they just keep restart over and over.

Actually, when you first install a network printer, the drivers are copied down to your PC from the server. Otherwise, your PC wouldn't know how to format the data properly for the printer.

It sounds like you need to repair your Office install. This can be done from the Add/Remove Programs dialog. You may need your IT person's assistance with this depending on whether they've locked down your install privileges.

Well Im not a computer expert, but if you say so as far as the drivers go. He did have me go ahead and remove office 2003 and re-install. Same thing. I really appreciate all your help. Im sure its hard to really know whats going on without being here. He is coming this week to repair and do our normal monthy PM. I was just hoping to save a little-LOL.

I'm curious if you have anything in your Application log when the Office apps are restarting. Right-click on My Computer, then select Manage, Event Viewer, Application. Also, I would try printing a test page to the printer. Right click on the printer, select Properties, then click on Print Test Page (towards the bottom of the General tab).

Default Multiple Palm Users

Is there an app for multiple Palm users on one PC? My wife uses a Palm Tungsten E and I a Treo 700p. We have a WinXP machine at home.

I used to recommend people set up different users (one for you, one for your wife) for different devices but I've seen some people post that they can sync multiple devices to the same PC with no trouble at all.
