Bluetooth & phone problems

I was wondering if anyone else has had this or a similar problem.
I have a Treo 700p that was acting strange since I received it new in May. The SMS program would lock up the phone. The pairing with my integrated bluetooth in my Infiniti stopped working and then the Treo screen could not turn off as long as the car was running.
I tried everything from a soft reset to a hard reset and nothing worked. With almost no additional software installed on the Treo, the problems persisted.
I called the Verizon Wireless people and told them what I had done in an attempt to remedy the situation and demanded a new phone. With absolutely no questioning, they said yes. I told them I did not want a reconditioned phone but they said that is all they send out. These reconditioned ones have upgraded software and I think he said firmware. I told him that for the price I paid for the phone, I was dissappointed. However, it appeared I had little choice.
Well, to make a long story short, the phone arrived yesterday and everything seems right now. I had also had problems getting the 700p to work with two or three different speakerphones. I will have to test them again now to see if they will work.

Has anyone else experienced any related problems?

Hi and welcome to ET. I don't have a car kit but I've run into the messaging problem occasionally, but I've blamed it on Sprint since I've had some other message-related issues a few times. I can understand your frustration about the reconditioned phone but if the firmware's been updated and it's working so far, I guess all's well that (so far, and I've got my fingers crossed for you) ends well.

What did you mean by having trouble getting your phone to work with different speakerphones?

The bluetooth is built into my Infiniti. I had tried some speakerphones that had worked with my old Treo 650 but not with the 700p.

Hi andya, I had the exact same problem! (Well not exactly, I don't happen to own an Infiniti, but I do have a bluetooth headset...) Anyhow, I got the 700p about 2 weeks ago, so excited, and went to pair my scala-500 headset to it, and it didn't show up. I'd just assumed that it was because the day before I accidentally sent my headset through the washing machine so I helped myself to a new Motorola HS850. Got that home and tried to pair it, didn't show up at all on my 700p. Tried pairing it nad my squeaky-clean headset with a friends phone and they both worked great, so I knew that both headsets were fine.
Called Verizon, then Palm, then back to Verizon who easily agreed to send me a refurbished 700p. I've had the new one now for about a week and bluetooth works great on it! It sounds like my issue isn't an isolated incident, maybe some bad firmware like you said.

The only issue I'm noticing now is that after a few calls without the headset, the bluetooth will refuse to connect again to my headset. A soft reset fixes the issue, but it gets annoying. Any thoughts?

I have the Infiniti G35X.
As an update, the phone has worked flawless in the car since last October and the problems I had. I am using the integrated bluetooth system in the car, no bluetooth speakerphone.
