Thats what I was thinking but what Im wondering is if I unistall and reinstall, will I lose everything on my desktop and would all the info on my phone replace all that was lost after reinstall... And if my phone did replace all that was lost on reinstall, would the phone happen to sync the "bug" that is causing the problem?

What if you got a new sim card with just your phone info enough to dial and see if that works okay, and then get you desktop contact information moved over to the sim card later somehow If the info in your contacts on the desktop is okay and the probelem is a corrupted db on the sim card a different sim card might do the trick.

If you uninstall desktop program and reinstall you wopulkd want to backup and rename or that data would be lost be you would have it to restore, but if the probelme is in that data you could restore the problem as well just like you did after the hard reset. Why not try thge new sim card thing first.

    **UPDATE**

After some searching, it appears that "Ringo" installed on the 700p will have a negative effect on incoming callers appearing as "unknown caller".

I recently "disabled Ringo", had some friends on my contacts list call me and it work flawlessly... It appears that Ringo is the problem.

It has also been suggested that if one was to download updated version of Ringo, that it too will fix the problem...

Thanks to all for their attempts at helping...

    Hi There,

Was just reading through the threads and came across this post, and thought I would share my recent experience. I have a 700p too and loved it, so through ebay I purchased the 700w, (wanted to see what the hoopla was about it), needless to say I used it for about a week and discovered that I liked the "p" sooooo much better so I switched back.

When I switched back I started experiencing problems with the phone freezing on me whenever I had an incoming call. Not knowing what to do I called Verizon's tech support, who also got palm involved. The whole ordeal caused a number of hard reset, and reinstalls of app onto the phone. I had 3rd party app. mRing, Volume Care, and IM+. Well finally Verizon gave up and said that it was a problem with the phone and sent me a new one.

The new phone came and I was soooooo happy :laugh3: , cause I thought I was back in business. Well when I synced the new phone the same thing happened. "What the Hell" :embarassed: Well now I felt that I had to take matters into my own hands. I figured it was something on my computer that was causing the problem, so I resorted to installing the palm software on my computer and then reinstalling it again from the installation disk.

You can save your contact, date book, tasks, and memos. With the palm desktop open - click on the calendar, hit save all - then hit export files, and save that file on your desktop, and do this for each one, what I found is with that task and memos you have to first hit the save all, then go to edit and hit select all before you export. Once your install the new version of the palm software open it up and then one by one import each the saved doc into palm and the tada you have your info.

Well, I did all of that and.....still the same problem, sooooooo what I found out was that it was the mRing that was causing the problem so I deleted it and just used my contacts to set the individual ringtones and now I'm good to go.
