Counting the days...
Well, only 103 days until my Verizon Wireless contract expires and I can get rid of this 700P.
I have been a Palm user for over ten years. This is my last one. I am on my fourth replacement. I have had to fight to get each one. And Verizon, I won't be hearing them soon either.
I have had to cancel the internet access because it was screwing up this particular device. My wife has one too but never used all the features like I have.
Oh well, only 103 days to go...

I feel your pain and understand it too well. I have seen way too many pained stories about the 700p, but not all are bad. I suppose after four tries you are no longer amused or even of a mind to try again. My 650 went away after my company gave up following a three year love and (mostly) hate relationship.
What are you thinking of moving to? I must say I have been very impressed with my move to the BB platform. My Sprint 8830 (company paid and no real choice) is a solid and useful device and I bought a TMobile Curve for my daughter. Almost two months and she still likes me, which is huge. If you had a 20 year old in college you would understand. :tounge:
I hope you find a comfort zone.....

Hi Stevetaz,
My wife and I are both pretty much sold on trying out the iPhones. I just moved to the dark side by switching from a Windows machine to an iMAC. WOW! It is great! Shoulda done it years ago.
I am hoping that the iPhone gives me the same level of satisfaction.
The company that I work for is global and is switching out those who have Blackberries iPhones in July. I think that speaks volumes about the iPhone.
We shall see. I am really disappointed in Palm. It's so hard to even get through to them now. I started with them with a Palm I and I have upgraded more times than I care to think about - all that money spent. And now they don't really want to hear from me or communicate with me. Well, if enough of us leave maybe they will notice eventually.

Hey:
I wish you luck with the iPhone. As a consumer device it has set a new bar for mobile web browsing and media. However, I also hear that as a phone it is mediocre at best....or maybe that is AT&T.:tounge:
I for one would be real concerned with the virtual keyboard too, but that could just be a personal preference and maybe something that can be adapted to.
The big surprise is to hear of a global company moving away from an ultra-secure platform to one that has not yet introduced a desire to be a business device.
I share your disappointment with Palm and I just don't understand what they are up to.
Anyway, best of luck and enjoy the kool aid!!!!

I feel your pain. I'm on my 4th also. After I threatened to leave Verizon, they got Palm on the line and guess what, the Verizon wireless sync was the problem and I loaded the Versamail, and no problems since, well, except for my sync from my treo to exchange not working, but that may be my office.
Verizon was soooooooooo adamant that it was a hardware issue which clearly didn't make any sense.
Good luck,

I am so with you on this one. I've had my Treo 700p for about 19 months and it is history as soon as that verizon contract is up in 5 months.
I've been a long-time palm user but this is ridiculous. The phone is constantly locking up, so slow to respond sometimes I have to wait 5 seconds between typing in digits, random reboots, some days the battery lasts 3 hours with a full charge and little use, etc. I've deleted everything on the palm except the original software, replaced the battery, talked to Verizon. Nothing seems to help. It's very random, some days it works pretty well, other days it barely functions. It didn't start doing this until I had it about a year. Funny, a friend who stopped using the Treo for this reason warned me against getting one and I didn't listen.
I would chalk it up to a lemon phone except I have talked to at least a dozen people with treo's in the last few months (I work in a hospital and physicians tend to be heavy users of Palm because they can get the PDR and other medical software for the Palm) who are fed up with the same issues and are switching to either Blackberries, Iphone or some other smart phone. This is a shame because Palm use to have such a good reputation but seems to have failed to keep up with techology.

Same boat, Verizon is sending me a BB 8330 for a 30 day test drive. I don't know much about BB's but I am on my 4th 700p since Oct (some problems have been minor but I am real "anal") we will see

Good luck with the change you are about to make. There will be a learning curve and may I suggest you visit the ET sister site, EverythingBerry. You will find some helpful forum posts that may make the transition a bit easier. Be sure to look at the General Discussion Forum for the Tips and Tricks sticky.

Seems to me most people having troubles with Palms are Verizon customers. I have had my 700p on Sprint for over 2 years and not a problem. Could it be Verizon's standards aren't as high as others. Just a thought.

Nope, cant be that, i am now on number two and I'm also on sprint.
The new one came today, got it out of the box, Sprint sure thinks of everything, the darn thing didn't even come with a battery! can you believe that? and of course the one from the old 700p works but cant fit the cover back on it with it in.
They traded me up?!?! to a Treo 755P. Not sure if its really up or not cause before i could even get the darn thing to sync with my desktop it was doing the famous access circular dance of death.
Personally i am just waiting for someone...ANYONE... to come out with a good Linux based Smartphone with a good calendar and I'm jumping to whatever ship brings it in. I have had it with this endlessly unreliable pile of ?!>#E&*@.
Had to get a palm to begin with because it was the easiest to sync with my Linux Desktop, First month i had it i got it to sync the first time flawlessly then never again till it locked up tight as a drum, had about 2 weeks of non-billed service calls that i lost on that one and its been pretty much a downward slide ever since on one level or another...
These Palm phones makes Windows ME look unbelievably stable in comparison. Cant believe i have paid so much for what is basically unusable.
