couple of newbie questions

I've had my 700p for a couple of weeks now, and I REALLY like it. But I do have a couple of questions I can't seem to find answers for in the Users manual.

1) Twice now I've had the Treo get very sluggish--once even freeze up when starting a sync. I haven't loaded any extra apps (yet) I have about 550 contacts, and a very typical calendar. I did the soft reset by pulling the battery and then all seems back to normal. Is this typical of the Treo 700p?

2) Often I get this message " To complete this request, you must connect to the Internet. Would you like to connect now? Y/N." When this comes up, I can't figure out what I did that I need to connect to the Internet. What is this message about?

If any of you experienced users can make sense of these issues, I'd really appreciate it. Thanks in advance.

1) No that has never come up that I know of.
2) Either the app your running needs internet access or u have something set to update.

Be a little more specific of when your "do u want to connect to the internet" pop comes up. Is it when u eneter some app or just when your sitting at the home screen?

Thanks for the reply. To be more specific, this may happen when I wake the 700p up or when I do go to some apps, but not sure which app at this time. I'll make better notes next time it happens. Could it be when it gets the time? I would think that comes from the regular wireless phone network

getting the time it shouldn't need to go into the data part of the phone.

Can u list the apps on your device?

Tom, do you have Versamail set up for checking your email? If it's trying to auto-connect, it would require an internet connection.
