Email Attachments
I am using the email program that came installed on my Treo 700P. When I get an email with an attachment, the attachment is automatically removed. I have tried to check the "Download attachments" option in the Mailbox Settings but it will not check. Any help would be appreciated.

Hello and welcome to ET.com. I don't use the mail app that comes bundled with the 700p but I'll take a shot at it. Once you've downloaded your email, is there an option to "download attachment" or "download more", or something to that effect? Once you've selected that, you need to "receive" or "download" your mail again, in order to get the attachment.
Next question: are your attachments set to save to your SD card? If not, and they're too big for the Treo's memory, that could be your problem, too.

I use Versa mail and the Icon is the far right little envelope. It then gives you the choice for treo or SD card save (if installed)

To download email attachments using Verizon's Wireless Sync, you need to tap on the attachment/paperclip with the stylus, choose "get the attachement(s)", and then do a manual wireless sync and the attachment will come through in the next email/sync.
A bit clumsy I know, but it works, and according to Verizon, is the ONLY way to get email attachments with Wireless Sync.

You got it Hollywood. When I first upgraded my 650 from 1.04 to 1.05a firmware, I was actually able in the Inbox settings to check the "download attachments" box, I use to specify download anyting up to 1 meg, and specified the file types ".jpg, .doc, .pdf" etc. It worked great..somewhere along the line that box became unchecked and is now IMPOSSIBLE to check (it does nothing but stays blank when I tap the stylus on it). After I got my 700p upgrade a few weeks ago, same behavior. I think Verizon might have disabled this feature to save their precious bandwidth...lol
But you described how to get an attachment perfectly...

I let Wireless Sync update contacts, tasks and the calendar, but not e-mail. There's no need for having VZW sit between me and my email.

You have a Palm device, & you're letting Verizon sync your calender & contacts? That's funny. I'm doing just the opposite. One of the main reasons I went with the 700"p", was because I love the Palm software, & was familiar with it from my previous PDA. Plus, I don't really feel comfortable having all my personal info (schedule & contacts), sitting "vulnerable" on Verizon's server. The Wireless Sync email seems to have gotten a little better over the past couple of weeks, with shorter "lag times" & not one missed email!
