Default email became slow; touchscreen slow to respond but only in email

Suddenly for no apparent reason, email (i have two separate accounts set up - personal and work) started responding very slowly. The touchscreen is sluggish, the buttons don't appear to press (highlight in blue). However: a) the touchscreen works fine in every other area and b) if I hit it just right, it does work (i.e. it WILL go "get" messages or delete or whatever). The scroller is similarly sluggish, so really -- the email program is slow to respond -- almost like a tyong delay.

    Any ideas?

An obvious couple of questions. #1, what email program are you using and #2, how much memory do you have left and #3, do you have any "background" applications?

I am using Versamail. I have been using it with no problem for 5 months. Maybe 4 months. I don;t know about background applications (???). It looks like I have 27.3 MB of memory left. This happened Tuesday, rather suddenly, or --- Tuesday morning all was fine and Tuesday evening, different.

you know, the batter did run down very low that day. Could that have affected it?

Probably not. I would look at applications - did you install any new programs that monitor alarms? Did you enable a new feature in a program you have been using?

A corrupted index file or data file used by Versmail has been known to give problems, but normally only when that application is running.

Thanks, it is really annoying so I am cleaning, syncing and getting ready to do a hard reset.

I don't know what else to do. Everything else works fine, but the input (touch and type) being so unresponsive means I can't reply to messages.

If you are going to do a hard reset, reinstall the applications one at a time - maybe you will catch it this way. I also suggest that you get everything installed and running then try Versamail and see what goes.

I've run into this a couple of times. I've discovered this kind of slowdown happens when the Wireless Sync is doing it's thing. When I disable Wireless Sync, all is well..

Just my $.02 before the hard reset...
