Currently using a Sprint 650 and awaiting 700p. While online with PDANet and the 650 a voice mail call alert (viberate or tone - which ever you have it set to) is sent to the device so you know someone attempted to contact you. Drop your connection and check your VM account.
With the 700p (I have heard and am awaiting a response elsewhere) that one doesn't even need PDANet to avoid additional charges (even with their "Unlimited Data Packages"). Even if PDANet is required, it is 3rd party app., only a one time charge of $34 last I checked at junefabrics.com or on this site at the ET Store and available NOW for the 700p. June Fabrics has been extremely helpful, responds to my queries within two days and has sent me new updates.
Make sure you download the trial version first as it does not always play well on all PC's/Laptops/OS's. They warn you right up front and there are
NO REFUNDS. I have many PC's/Laptops on my networks and have found only one where it has some problems but it still works. Patience is required on that machine while I wait up to five minutes for everything to "sync" but that is most likely since the OS is messed up and patched together temporarily. I just have not had the time to rebuild it and download all of the updates.
There is also a setting which allows for remaining online while using the 650/700p to "multi-task" and look for something within the device at the same time.
Good luck.
Respectfully submitted.
