Default Fragile and expensive to fix.......

I am with Verizon. Currently have a Motorola V710. I am up for an upgrade phone
in August and am considering the 700p. However, a friend had an older Treo and
had to swap it for a Blackberry. ( He was on the T-Mobile network )..

I asked him WHY? He said the Treo was fragile and expensive to fix. Do you all
find this true?

Default Treo Fragile?

My experience with Treo 300, 600 and now 700p is that they are pretty rugged. Many a time they have hit the pavement because of a poorly designed holster, and never were hurt. One of my Treo 600s did end up with a problem - Sprint replaced it immediately.

I don't have anything to compare my experinece with - I have always had Palm, and my first cellphone was a Treo (was an early adopter of installed car phone in the eighties).

My 700p seems pretty tough and it feels solid when I use it. My boss has a 650 and he's dropped it a few times and never had any problems.

Default Should I invest in a 700p?

Dirkpitt,

I too have the v710 with Verizon Wireless. Nice phone but I carry the Tungsten E2 as well . I have been wanting to upgrade to ONE device. I have been a palm user for at least 7 years now and don't want to giveup the free s/w and familiarity w/OS.

I have heard one rumor that when verizon launched the 700p, they went to market too early with h/w or s/w bugs and that a follow-on model is already in the works. Has anyone else heard anything else like this? Have any 700p users been displeased with their purchase? and what are your personal likes/dislikes with the 700p?

I spoke directly with some verizon sales agents and they haven't heard any comments as such. As you know the 700p is not cheap and I would want to make a wise decision whenever I migrate.

Well I can only comment about my Sprint 700p. I had a few issues in the first few days, which I documented in this thread, http://www.everythingtreo.com/forum/treo-700p/a-treo-700p-must-read-6454.html but the last few days it has worked flawlessly. There are still a few things I have not done with it yet. I don’t use Bluetooth because I don’t have a headset yet. Nor have I put in an SD Card, although I did try a coworkers just to make sure that it would read the card. I’m holding out hope that a 4GB SD will work, but have not tried one yet.
