Default From bad to worse...Do the replacement phones work?

My 700p is causing me pain. I've been w/Verizon and have used various palm pilots for probably at least 10 years. Bluetooth would not stay paired from day 1.

I can't believe how unstable this phone is! Initially I had to do a few soft resets, then more often. Then my phone started auto-turning off, which is a huge problem for me being in sales. Have used the Verizon *software update several times.

I have no additional custom apps and use Verizon's internet sync.

Drove to Verizon, they gave me the customer service number to call, would not help me in their tech area. Unbelievable! The folks on the tech number recommended a hard reboot. 2+ hours out of the day, then the same issue started again.

They are sending me another phone, but have you folks with the replacement phones had better luck? I'd be more effective at work with a cheap phone and a palm pilot so far.

Grrrr....

Early in the game they may be new; however, the 700p has been out long enough that they should have a set that have been refurbished. My neighbor got a replacement for his 700p and it was a refurbished unit. I had three with the 600 and you could not tell the difference. As a note, the first 600 was changed out due to the radio unable to maintain contact with the cell and the other two times due to battery problems. The last one was going strong when I sold it. Ben

I don't really care if it's new, used, refurbished or whatnot, just that it's stable enough to work fairly close to as advertised.

I'm flipping out that I'm stuck on the ACCESS POWERED start up screen and the phone won't even boot up or even take the hard reset. And that phone number on my Treo is the main number I use for my business.

Guess I'll be checking voicemail over the landline all day tomorrow and Friday!

I had the same problems with my 700p. Finally got tech suppt. to approve a new one. Drove up to Verizon and they got a new on out of the box. I asked if it was refurbished and they told me they have never had a refurbished unit. But that might be just that store. Don't know.

Anyway, the new phone is stable, but don't hold your breath waiting on bluetooth to get fixed. The best advice I can give you is keep pushing the talk button now and then to maintain pairing. It's the only thing that's worked so far for me.

Good luck and welcome!

On tow occassions, Verizon has replaced my Treo. Both times the replacement work as an original. The local Verizon dealer gave me this number: 866-788-9387. I got the "hard rewet run around but eventually they did the right thing.

I'm on my 3rd Verizon 700p and waiting forthe 4th one to arrive tomorrow. Mine gets hot, seems to always be running in background, shuts down, freezes and the battery life just sucks & bluetooth just eats the battery twice as fast. Nver had this with my 600 or 650. I love the phone & versatility but they need to get Palm to get rid of the bugs. I removed all traces of 3rd party software & still no help.

mzs888.... got my 4th 700p today. Refurb unit, but I do not care at this point. If it works for two years, that'll do.

After loading everything up, this one looks like it might be stable for a while (knock on imitation real vinyl wood).

Good luck!
