Getting ready to say good bye...

I love my Treo 700p. It has and does everything I want from a device...when it's working.

My current issue is demonstrated by this YouTube video where someone else is having the same problem.

This is the second time I've had to replace my Treo with this same problem. The first time took seven weeks for a refurb replacement.

I'm looking at the Curve.

And here's my thinking. My carrier is not offering the 755p and from what I understand that's all there is, right? If the 755p is the end of the Palm O/S then why continue to endure this inconvenience over something that is becoming obsolete?

Am I missing something? Is there anything that can talk me out of making this choice? I've had a Palm forever but I just don't know if it's worth it anymore. :frown:

Hi:

Sorry to hear of your trouble and I did go through a similar situation recently. After three years of trying to make it work my company decided it wasn't worth it.

Less than a month ago we moved to BlackBerries.

However, since they pay, I use what they tell me to use. I am not sure I would have made the move if I was paying myself. I went from a 650 to a BB 8830. Knowing what I know I probably would have tried the 755p, but if it had issues too that would have driven me crazy for the term of the contract.

Tough call!

I can tell you while the two are very different I am acclimating to the BB and I am beginning to really like a few of the features. I miss the touch screen, but the one-hand navigation on the 8830 has become pretty easy.

Two big issues I always had with the Treo, battery life was never more than a day and call connection/signal was never more than okay, especially in my area. The BB seems to excel at both and has alleviated a couple of on-going problems.

Although your problems and mine are different, I have already made the change. I have returned to carrying a Palm T|X that has worked weel for me for years and I feel like I am seeing an old friend.

I tried the 700w before I got my 700p and found that I just couldn't do without my touch screen. I don't know what the future will hold. I also have been a long time palm o/s user and if we are seeing the end of it I will be sad to see it go. (I was also a DOS user on a Palm and really loved it!) I guess we will be going to Linux now.

I hate my 700p. I am on my 5th one and they all have the same problem. They all make noise while I vibrate when I got out of service. Palm said that they may consider giving me the WX if it keeps happening. Apparently 5 phones isn't proof enough.
