HELP!!! Cannot Sync Calendar and Addresses on 700p
I need help badly. :frown:Having a very hard time getting my 700p to sync properly. This is a new phone - replacement for my 650 that had problems. Have installed a new desktop - the latest version - 6.0 and 7.0 for hotsync I think. Have also been working with Sprint Tech service. When I install the desktop and sync for the first time with my phone (which has all my contacts and calendar entries), everything syncs except contacts and calendar. If I add a new contact on the phone, does not sync to the desk top, and vice versa. The log says that everything was fine with the exception of one file back up, PmTraceDatabase. Calendar and contacts are not even shown as files that were synched. I have checked the settings for hotsync - they say synchronize all. The hotsync conduits on the phone are checked. The tech support also had me rename my device, still the same - memos and tasks come over, not contacts and calendar. I also added a task to my phone, and it synced to the desktop.
So, anyone ever run across a problem like this. I am at the point of giving up on my Treo and going with a different platform. I like having my info and phone in one device.

Hi and welcome to ET:
Sorry you are having trouble. A few basic questions:
What OS are you running on your PC? The Desktop and Hotsync versions you are using are for Vista.
Do you have Outlook 2007 installed? There was an update issued for this and I wonder if not doing the update could hinder your sync even if you are not syncing to Outlook. However, Palm recommends not installing if you don't sync with Outlook.
I assume that if Outlook is installed that you have checked to see if the data is in there?
Also, could you have a wireless sync set up? That would cause your contacts and calendar to not even appear as a selection in the log when you sync with a USB cable.
Did your 650 use Palm conduits or could that have been set up using Chapura, which was installed with some older Treos?
When you installed the new Desktop, was it over an existing installation or a fresh install. If you had an older version how did you go abvout removing and could any of the older backup folders still be on your drive?
If you right-click on your HotSync tray icon and select Custom, list what appears....

Actually, you should double check your Desktop version if you are indeed using Vista. 6.0 was a beta and I think the current one is 6.2.

Thanks for the note. The OS I have on my machine is Home Edition XP, version 5.1 with SP 2. The original desktop version was whatever I got with the 600. The 600 crapped out and Sprint gave me a 650 - I used the same desktop. When I started having trouble with the 700p I downloaded version 4.1.4e (think that was it) - I used this as the contacts and calendar were on my phone. The desktop version I was directed to by the Sprint helpdesk was Palm Desktop version 6.4.0.0 (that's what the installer file is named).
I had Outlook installed but never used it. In fact, I never synced my Treo to any email - only used it as a PDA and a phone. When I started having the syncing problems, I tried to launch the Outlook version I had (2000 Professional), had a problem, so the program would shut down and send a message to MicroSoft.
I always used the Palm Desktop. The sequence of events:
Had a 650, everything was working well
The 650 had phone problems, so I got a replacement - it synced OK, but the microphone did not work
Got a 700p - synced OK the first time, but never synced afterwards
Got another 700p - brand new phone, not a refurbished; again, synced the first time, but did not sync after that
After the second 700p is when I started messing around with new versions of the desktop. Also, with help from Sprint tech support, I renamed my phone - no luck. Went to the 6.4.0.0 version, checked all conduits/connections, etc.
I uninstalled the Desktop from the Add or Remove on the Control Panel. I did find that this did not remove files - still had my data, so I manually removed all Pal related files. Interesting side note - 4.1.4 decided to put my install files in a Handspring folder - hmmmm!
Since I am now using 6.4.0.0, the hot sync manager looks different. But the applications indicate:
Date Book - Synchronize the files
Adderess - Synchronize the files
ToDo - Synchronize the files
Memo - Synchronize the files
Addit - Synchronize the files (not sure what Addit is)
Media - Synchronize the files
Package Installer - enabled
Install - enabled
Install Service templates - enabled
Install to Card - enabled
Backup - enabled
All Synchronize the files show two way synchronization
I just got a phone message from the Sprint Help guy. His solution is to email myself all of the contacts, then hard boot the device and see if this works, then use my email to bring my contacts back in. Fortunately, I printed out all of my contacts, so I can always re-enter them (717 - lovely). The issue is that I never set up any email service on the phone. And basically, I already had a brand new phone and was able to download my data from my desktop one time, and now I cannot sync. Not sure if I have any confidence if I will be any better off if stuff is not syncing. And the only data base I have currently is on my phone - I deleted the desktop by uninstalling and reinstalling. And frankly, if I have to reenter all of my data, I'll go to a different platform. Very frustrating.
PS - keep in mind that Memos and tasks sync two way just fine - I cannot understand why the contacts and calendar do not.
So there you are. As always, any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Interesting. I note the appearance of Outlook - I have never used it myself and when I had my WM devices, I made a point of working around it. If you have a card reader, you can transfer the files to the card and then copy them to RAM. You can also Bluetooth the files from the desktop to the device.
AddIt is MyTreo.

I'm having the same problem. I have a Treo 680 that was working fine (hotsync-ing all the data including VersaMail to Yahoo!). Not sure when things went bad but I know that I lost the conduit for VersaMail when I upgraded PalmDesktop to version 6.2.
Lately, I've noticed that my Calendar and Contracts are not being sync-ed. These two do not show up on the sync log as even being attempted. I've also been getting the sane file backup failure message for PmTraceDatabase.
I'm running Windows XP. I have uninstalled all of the other Palm applications (DocumentsToGo, AvantGo, etc.). I then uninstalled the PalmDesktop and re-installed it. I even installed it on another drive. Still no Calendar or Contacts being sync-ed.
I've also tried re-installing version 4 of PalmDesktop.
Does anyone have any ideas of what I can try next?
