Help for 700p gift!!! ("get unwired inc"??)

Hi all,
I'm interested in buying a 700p for my boyfriend's bday. He's currently with T-Mobile & I know I can't get a 700p that works with the T-Mobile network (he doesn't love it anyway...it just has a great price for unlimited data!), and in any event the unlocked versions are usually too much for my budget anyway.

I came across a sale on ebay from "get unwired inc.", which basically sells them for free with new activation on the sprint network (I would just pay for the first few months for him). They have good reviews, but I was curious if anyone here had tried them, or if anyone had any other advice/ strategies for getting a 700p as a gift for someone else. Is it even possible to set up phone service in someone else's name?

Honestly, he would still probably be fine with the 680 (as long as it was Crimson!), but the only carrier seems to be Cingular & their data plans seem way too expensive! If you know anyway of getting around that--and not paying like $400 for an unlocked version, that would be appreciated as well. Thanks!!!

I'm not familiar with the seller, but once you activate on Sprint, you'd be tied to a contract. My guess is 2 years and cancellation would result in a penalty of some sort. In the long run, it might make sense to go with an unlocked GSM Treo. This way, your friend could use their existing T-Mobile service without getting involved in contracts and porting their number to a different carrier.
