Help please! phone mode wont turn on

Hello everyone, thank for your time...i would really appreciate some help because ive been doing a lot of research and i dont know what to do.
I have a treo 700p from sprint, its originally from the states but im now in mexico, i got it activated with the local company and everything was ok, even the data service, but then i (bad) intalled the treo 700p update and the phone mode (wireless mode) stoped working, i get first stuck in the sprint screen for a while and when it finally goes to phone it goes stuck in network search, with a red T nex to it and a crosshair in the GPs symbol. if i go to phone options the info is empty, even my ESN! i cannot reconfigure nothing because everytime i dial something it says phone must be on to do that, so im pretty screwed. The local company technicians say they cant fix because its an american equipment. I have my SPC and all the data i need but please tell me theres a way to reprogram, i read somehere it has to do with the PRL lost.

I had that problem but mine was because for some reason since the newest Palm update I did, none of the apps I add work. Anything more than the standard preloaded app makes my phone mess up. Try doing a hard reset, that's what I had to do. Press and hold the power button. While holding it take your battery out and put it back in. It will come on and ask you to push the up arrow to reset.
