How do I configure my Treo for GMail?

Hello! I'm trying to set up my Treo to recieve e-mails from my Gmail account using POP and the options that I saw, I didn't know which one to choose for the Treo. I've done a search for Treo & Gmail in this forum but was unable to find anything that helps, so can I please get some assistance with setting this up?

Another option is the GMail application, but I haven't tried that myself. It requires Java to be installed.

My Sprint 700p Versamail software had Gmail as a selected option when setting up a new service. It automatically picked the right settings. My Versamail automatically downloads both my Outlook email and my Gmail.

I just did the following install today and life on the javascript email is sweet.

Just one notation to the files listed by Ben below...after the files are loaded on your 700p...you MUST reboot for them to work properly! You can get the zip files you need at:
http://www.palm.com/us/support/jvm/download.html
Just sort through the folders and find the ones below.

Once you install Java, go to the Palm's System "preferences" and there you will find the area to set the basic Java preferences. I generally recommend the max on everything except the cache - I use the middle value.

The file is available via Palm's site. If you cannot get it, PM with an email address and I will send it to you.

I am running Chatter+ on my new 700p, and have a related question. I have my PC setup to pull from Gmail's pop server every 5 minutes. I've noticed that when the PC grabs email, it is not pulled by Chatter (or VersaMail, I've messed with both). This leads me to believe that you cannot have true 'syncing' of all email reader/devices, just one or the other. Am I on the right track?

Also, does anyone have experience in using a VPN client to sync with Exchange 2003? My office servers are behind heavy firewalls, and they require VPN access to even get on their network (public, SOX-compliant company).

Your mailer may have a setting to delete from the server after pulling; there are also a couple of settings on the Gmail site that cover what you want, have you checked there?
