| I use Outlook for my contacts, too. There doesn't seem to be a way to filter certain contacts when you sync with Outlook. A possible solution for you, since you don't want many contacts on your Treo, would be to use the Palm Desktop for contacts you do want on your Treo, and just don't enable an Outlook conduit. That way, you'll only have the contacts you want on your Treo. The downside is, if a contact's info (that you want on your Treo)changes, you'll have to remember to update it in the Palm Desktop and in Outlook.

| You will have to create a second Contact list within Outlook of only the contacts you want to sync to the Treo, and then make that list as your default list. Pretty much that's the only way that I know of.

| In Outlook, Click on the Contacts Tab.
At the top left of the screen should be a window "My contacts"
Right Click on Contacts and select "New Folder"
A window will appear "Create New Contact"
Enter the name (Eg Treo)
Click okay
The new folder will now appear in the contacts window.
Click on your main contacts folder
Pressing the control Button click on each contact that you wish to copy to the new Treo folder.
Click Edit, then "copy to folder"
Select the folder to copy to (Treo).
The contacts you selected are now copied into the new folder.
I can't remember how to make the new folder the default folder and will look it up, or if someone else knows.
Alternatively, you can transfer all your contacts to the new folder and delete the one you don't want on your Treo from the current default folder.
Another simpler option is to catagorize your contacts on your Treo, so that you have a catagory of only TREo, and keep the contacts on that.
I will post the change of default as soon as I can remember or find how to do it.

| Hi All:
New to the board here (brand new 700p owner). I was wondering the exact same thing, as I'm trying to plan how to enter contacts into my Treo.
I have my Outlook contacts divided up into several categories (including Personal, Business, and one I've called "QuickList," which includes only people whom I would call frequently on my Treo). These categories are intended to mirror the Contacts categories on my Treo. If I copy my entire Outlook Contacts file over to my Treo, will the Outlook Contact categories show up on the Treo and also be accessible from the drop-down menu within "Contacts" on the Treo? And if so, will the "default" Contacts category that comes up when I select "Contacts" on my Treo be whatever was the last category I used, or would the default category always come up as "All," such that I would then have to select "QuickList" from the drop-down menu to get to the contacts listing that is most important for my Treo?
Thanks very much for your kind assistance with any tips you can provide... |
