Default How to stop email notification?

Disclaimer- I am new to smartphones in general, and my Treo specifically. I have tried to search the internet, these forums, and the manual for this phone with no luck.

I have been trying to figure out how to stop my Treo from notifying me with every email arrival. Whenever an email arrives, the thing vibrates and makes a short audible signal. I have gone to the "preferences" menu within the email function, as well as the sounds menu, and have not found a way to change this.

I am a physician and I am on call 50% of the time, so my phone (we don't have a land line anymore) needs to be in the bedroom with the sound on at night.

I may need to get rid of this thing, or at least disable the email function if I can't get it to stop buzzing all the time. And email is one of the things I use alot with this phone.

Help!

Hi:

\From the 700p manual:

Playing Sounds When New Email Arrives
When new email messages arrive, an alert appears on the
Alert screen (see
“Viewing and Using the Alert Screen” on page 103 for information). In addition,
when you schedule Auto Sync for a given account, you can choose a sound—such
as a bird, a phone, or an alarm—to let you know when new email arrives.

1.
From any mailbox screen, open the menus .

2.
Select Options, and then select Preferences.

3.
Select Alerts.

4.
Check the Alert me of new mail box.

5.
Select the Alert Sound pick list, and then select a sound. The device plays a
brief demo of the sound.

6. Select OK.

This will enable you to select what you want.

To silence everything slide the Mute switch on the top of the device. Note that depending on how you have other settings selected the device may begin to vibrate when a call comes in. Don't forget to slide the switch back when you want to hear noises.

You may have to play with a few of the various settings, but tehre is no need to throw it away.

I did not see that in the manual, but I have tried the menu within the email function already.

When I go to options and then preferences, there are 6 tabs: General, Inbox, Outbox, Drafts, Sent and Deleted. I have looked at all 6 and there is nothing about email alerts. And I can't turn off my ringer because I need to be able to get calls at night for work.

Nevermind, found it. You have to go to the "sync" menu rather than the "email" menu.

You also have the option of using a third party application similar to Power Hero to set up time on/off for the data connection, which may be an easier solution for you.
