| I give up! I have had a bad experience with my 700p; many resets and missed calls. Too many problems to list them all. I've decided to go back to a Palm device and a cell phone. I prefer to have two devices that work and I can depend upon than to have an integrated unit that doesn't work. |

| Jim4455, Sorry to hear about your frustrations! I went from one device back to two a few years ago, and it was frustrating trying to get my nokia to communicate with the Tungsten. Thank God, my move back to the Treo 650 wasn't as rough as the first time I tried it with a Handspring Visor and Phone Module!
However, I think you are not alone in your frustrations that many 700 owners have experienced! The maintenance release is supposed to address several of the issues that owners have experienced. The last I heard, it was due out around the end of May. According to Palm's blog, they have tweaked and tweaked and its now in the hands of Sprint/Verizon for testing. If you can hold on a little longer, this might help your situation. Again, good luck, and please let us know if the MR helps in your reliability issues should you choose to try it!

| Your first and second post were to say you had enough?
Ever try to figure out your problems or ask for help before you just gave up?
Just curious..... Quote:

| Sure Ramphog, I requested help from the resources that I was aware of. I went to Palm, to my carrier (Sprint), to various web resources. I was not aware that you were out there to help me. I discovered everywhere I went that there were problems with this device and the advice was on how to live with these problems. I consider myself niether nieve nor inexperienced (20+ years in computer services and a BS in Computer Science). I just feel that the 700p does not perform reliably and therefore not worth the $700+ that was spent. Yes, I do get 'fed up' when I feel that I have been used unknowingly as a beta tester. I think that the Treo could have been done better. |

| The Treo 700p for me has been nothing but solid after the first couple of days. I initially set it up from a backup from my 650 - that was the big mistake that took a couple of days to take care of. The occasional problem has been the result of installing an out-of-date application (one not designed to work with the NVFS file system) or playing with a beta. I did have a problem once with Documents to Go v9 - it reset every time I had it look on the SD card for file and that was taken care of by reseating the card. DTG is used daily with out a problem. If I do have a problem, I take the time to work with the developer and so far that has worked well. I realize and accept the occasional lag, the need for the DB cache to clear when full and for that I use Reset Doctor.
For all the device does and with the number of third party applications I use, it does remarkably well. One person complained once about the need for third party applications. My response was that the default may be fine, but there just might be something the third party application does better. Take a look at the calender program and then at Datebook 6 or Agendus. They offer so many more features and the developer that wrote the calender program wrote Datebook 6.
If a developer is unable to correct an operational problem with an application, I delete it. I only use those applications that work well and because I maintain contact with a developer when a problem arises, the problem is normally fixed very quickly.
Ben

| Sorry to hear you did not like the phone, I for one have had zero problems with mine, dropped it, kicked it, talked in the rain.....
I have it loaded with 3rd party apps and it is my mini laptop. I can watch slingbox, I can listen to music, check emails, directions, emergency camera etc.
again sorry you did not like it ...... maybe come back to the family when they get it right for ya......
And to tell you the truth.. as much as I like it I dont think it should cost that much either...... unless im stuck somewhere and can watch TV on it... then i am pretty happy with what i paid.
Anyway.. good luck on the next phone Quote:
