Question I got 2 Questions... 700p vs 700w? & Sprint or Verizon?

this will be my first treo and i was wondering what are the pros and cons of both the 700p and the 700w?? I would most likely be using it for emails on the road and collecting new contacts... and also... i dont do much talkin on the phone, but i do text alot... which service provider do u think i should go with... sprint or verizon?

Due to the lower cost of data, I'd suggest you go with Sprint. This also solves your dilemma of 700w vs 700p. Sprint only sells the 700p.

The Treo 700W has some type of built in voice activation capability. One of the network guys had one and he asked his treo to tell him what appointments he had that day and the telephone "spoke" in a computer voice, telling him what the appointment were, including his stop at my office. That was cool! Apparently, there were other voice activated features that the software could do. I have not been able to locate such a feature on the 700P and nor have I been able to locate similar software. So, if you want a really cool feature - look at the 700w.

Default Go with 700p

If you do a lot of texting.... go for the Palm version. Their scrolling text feature is a must have. I had the treo 700w and switched back to palm.

I bought a 700W, upgrading from a 650. I hated it. It was cool the first day. The look etc. The voice annoucements for appointments and such was cool, but the negatives far outweighed the coolness. I had issues with memory. It kept telling me I was out of memory even though I had nothing opened. I could never open an attachment because of low memory. It also crashed a lot. And coming from the ease of use of Palm, the learning curve for WM was way too big. Installing applications aand music was complicated. Eventually I got so fed up with it and returned it for a 700P, which I love. No problems at all with the P. I did have a couple of crashes but that was due to a particular third party app which I dumped. I can't say what's the difference between Sprint and Verizon. I am on Verizon. I have no problems. I am yet to be in an area with no reception.

700p vs 700p? that's a no brainer if you asked me. just think about the last time you were on you desktop and Windows freaked out right in the middle of that huge report. my wife always says "Fashion over Function," but i'm way more for function and reliability that what looks "cute." oh and another vote for Verizon. their customer service people aren't the brightest bulbs in the pack, but the service has been pretty good for me...except in that one chair in my living room i like to sit at. anywhere else on the planet it seems to work great. that's my $.02

Isn't the 700p a symbol of style and function ?

I have to say I might be one of them. I really enjoyed (and miss) the Today screen on the 700w. Attractive and functional. Facer Pro is nice, but I like the integration of speed dial, appointments, etc on the 700w.

I too will admit that I fell in love with the today screen of my 700W, but the love soon faded after a day or two when the rest of it really sucked.

The 700P is far superior in function to the 700W. The W is full of glitz, and that's about itz.
