I have several questions and issues I'd like your feedback on, please...

First and foremost, thanks for any help advice.

I am on my second Treo 700p. Like other people here I have had that nasty endless cycle between reboot-Access Powered over and over again. I had Verizon replace my phone.

I'm still having a few issues with it and I would like some advice.

1. Whenever I hit the envelope button I get this error:

Could not edit Message.
(File:MessageEditorForm.cpp,Line:65)
Continuing may cause further errors in Mail.

It gives me 2 options... Continue and reset. No matter which option I choose the phone resets. This happens EVERY time I hit the envelope button.

What's going on here and how could I fix this? Aren't there mail files I can delete somehow to start mail from scratch?

2. Though I can't reproduce it right this second, I've gotten an error about something regarding not enough space and that some information cannot be saved. The thing is, though, is that I have over 40 MB of free space on my phone! I'm not sure why or how this happens or if something's messed up in the phone to make it believe there isn't enough memory.

I remember seeing error #2 a few times before #1 happened to my old phone so now I'm very worried.

3. I really would like a few people's input on the TOP few MUST-HAVE Treo 700p programs. I have PdaNet but that's about it. I want to make this phone work for me as much as possible.

Sounds like your installation of Versasmell is smelled up. You can either erase all of the Versasmell files and start the application over again or do a hard reset; hard resets should be the last resort.

A better answer is to use a better mail application - three of them come to mind, ChatterEmail (king of the rock), Snappermail and AgendusMail. All three do a better job than Versasmell.

#2 Normally a heap error - older releases of some programs were really bad about it. The major ones have over come that factor.

Ben, thanks! Might you know what those versamail files are named? It's not obvious to me by going to "delete" and looking through all the files/apps.

With a file manager such as FileZ, search for "versamail" or better yet, use its filtered option and have it set for creator IDs, "msgS" and "asc4" and then delete all of them - those in ROM cannot be deleted. You can also delete files that start with MM - of course, do a complete backup before playing. Ben

I take it that by complete backup you do not mean just a simple SYNC, right?

Ben... tried doing a search for zfile but haven't been able to find it online. Do you have a source for it?

FileZ - http://www.nosleep.net/ - also if you have a third party launcher such as ZLauncher, you can delete from within its file manager.

Most will tell you that there are plenty of threads on this topic, but almost all of them simply list names of programs that people like, but you are left to do the legwork (Googling each one) to figure out what each one is and does.
I created a post that lists the programs and (more importantly) the reasons why.
In my opinion, it is a better starting place to help you figure out what you might want or need.

Yep and I do believe we have at least one here and in it I listed most of my files with a few comments. The one on MyTreo is a good resource. Also, there is nothing wrong with getting in the habit of searching.
