Question I Just Need One Game... Any Game

    Hi,

I've done a lot of searching through this forum and can't seem to find an answer to this question I have about games. I just got a 700p (Sprint PCS) through my employer and it does not have any games on it. I have been trying to install games but I cant seem to figure it out. I've been to freewarepalm.com and some other sites and when I think I've installed something on my card, I can't find it. Does anyone have the patience to walk me through installing a game from start to finish. I feel like such a dope but I just cant figure it out. I'm trying to install everything using my Treo because my internet security is so high on my company computer. That's another question I have: Can I download games to my home PC and then sink up with my Treo without messing anything up on the work front?

Is it possible that my company has such a high security policy on these devices that they don't allow any games (or other apps) to be installed whatsoever? I just dont see how they can control everything installed on the device. If I try to install free games from Sprint it gives me an error that no games are avaiable for my phone.

If anyone could help me, I'd be so grateful.

    Thanks,

Have I mentioned I miss my BlackBerry?

k first game I'll walk you through.

    Game is Naplam Racing.
    1) go to this url. (warning there are pop ups):http://www.freewarepalm.com/games/napalmracing.shtml

    2) Look under the Download: you'll see a zip file click to download it. (Download is located under requirements at the top of the page).
Once the zip file comes up you can extract it to your HD or just install from the zip.

    3) Look in folder "Color" You'll see NaplamRacing.prc. The ".prc" is the main file you need. (Only apps that can be installed on Palm devices are .prc or .pdb. No other format is supported by Palm. So if you are trying to install games that are for i.e. Razor phone. They won't work due to formatting and OS issues.)

Double click "Naplamracing.prc". (You should have Palm desktop installed, it is required) Next Quick Install should be launch with the app Located under the "Handheld". If you want to install it on your SD card then drag the app to the "Expansion Card" section.

    4) Go back to your .zip file ( that you should not close until you have installed the game to your device.) double click again on "NReditor.prc". Do the same as with "Naplamracing.prc".

    5) Next go to the folder tracks double click any of the pdb files. They should automatically be seen on your Quick Install screen just like the prc files. (If wanting to have the main app located on your SD card then you need to install the .pdb file to the handhelds internal memory.)

    Next Hotsync.

Go to your device and look on home screen with "ALL" apps showing and the program should be there. ( If it is not then go to your SD card by clicking the "home" button enough times till you see the name of your sd card). Once you see the app you'll see to the NReditor is where you can create your one race tracks but make sure that the editor is running in safe mode. To activate that just hit the app with your stylus and then once the app is launched in the top right corner of the screen make sure there is a check in the "safe mode" if there isn't clcik the box and that will activate safe mode for the editor. This is needed or the app will crash. Then you can create your own tracks now if your want.

    6) Now if you want to Play the game click Naplamracing with your stylus and then (if a cscreen pops up saying no tracks foudn then go to NReditor and create a track.) setup your game and then race.

If you can't download the gaem security to high. Soo then go home install palm desktop and then do teh same proceedures and hotsync your device to your home pc. So yes you can do work and home PC databases. I won't hurt anything just make sure that both are desktops are kept up to data.

Also sounds like your are trying to download games that are built for windows mobile or other regualr cell phones. So your need to use these sites. palmgear.com, handango.com, and the software store here to download games. Also you can click on the download app on yor device and download games over your data connection.

I think you had your formats screwed up the treo isn't like the regualr cell phones out there it is a whole different phone, and OS. Compared to regular cell phones. Next time I recommend visiting palm.com/support for more info on installing apps. Also the next time when installing apps make sure that the fiel ends with ".prc" or ".pdb". Those are the only compatiable formats for palm os.

    Hope that helps?
