Default Incomplete Sync

I noticed that my Calendar, Contacts and Tasks are failing to sync.
Neither Palm Desktop or Verizon's Wireless Sync service are updating, and-as far as I know-the two haven't conflicted with each other before. So, I don't think it's a conflict between the two.
I noticed this error within the log: "Protocol Error: Handheld file could not be opened. (4004)"

Is anyone else experiencing this?

Take care, guys!

Have you tried DBScan - http://pimlicosoftware.com/dbscan.zip - a uitlity from the maker of DateBook - it can be installed on the card in the /Palm/Launch folder. Running it: start the application, choose "Neither" and the "Options" and then "Remove All Deleted Records" and go from there choosing the PalmSource then PalmOne options. There is no harm from starting the application over and doing the Current and History databases.

As a note, resets during this operation may happen - just keep with it. After running the various options, you should be able to sync again.

Thank you, Ben. I'll try your suggestion this weekend. I appreciate your follow-up.

Okay, well, I followed only this portion of your instructions as I don't understand the software all that much; so, I'm a bit weary of messing with anything more. lol.

Subsequent Hotsync was still incomplete. The same functions failed. O boy...these 700p's.

<edit> well, I restarted DBscan and ran the 'current' and 'history' options. the 'current' option said that the 'DB appears okay."
the 'history' option said that a 'History db is not found.'

I ran a search on the error code and it came with two other threads. Have you looked at those and tried those suggestions? one of them of them dealt with dbscan and the other talked about a change in user name. Dont know if this will help or not but thought it might be worth a try. Will keep looking. Hope it gets corrected soon. I just hate it when things get balled up like that. I feel for you.

When you ran DBScan, did it find and delete any records? The error messages are the those that DBScan can and does normally fix.

jfa,
Thanks...I'll search for the error codes here on our BBS a little later.

Ben,
No...DBscan didn't find or delete any records.

I know of two pieces of software that I have installed lately -- test driving both ProfileCare and Snappermail. Wondering if either of those might affect my hotsyncs.

those I think are usually okay but they may be interacting badly with another program.

No, it is a PIM problem. Now another option is to manually update the desktop PIMs, then delete them on the device and resync with "desktop overwrites device" for the PIM.

Hello TBolt,

This is Kevin from Palm. If you have a Verizon phone and Calendar, Contacts and Tasks are not syncing, take a look at the Palm Knowledge Library article "HotSync automatically disabled by Verizon Wireless Sync, can't enable in HotSync Manager". If Verizon Wireless Sync was installed, it automatically disabled the standard HotSync conduits for Calendar, Contacts and Tasks. The article gives an explanation and shows where to change the settings.

Sincerely
Kevin
