Default Just got my new 700p. Help with contacts

Hey all, I finally decided to get a palm 700p. It's my early christmas present for myself. Quick question. I typed all of my contacts on the palm desktop software. How do I send it to my phone.

Hot Sync it. If you are brand new, please see http://kb.palmone.com/SRVS/CGI-BIN/W...ase=obj(42720))

Hello enilm,

This is Kevin from Palm, Inc. Congratulations on your Treo 700p . haroldo has given you a very useful link. I'd also like to point to Palm's main Support page. Choose your model/carrier from the drop-down box and you'll be taken to the Knowledge Library and links to Getting Started Guides, User Guides (handy pdf you can download and search, a bit easier than wading through a hard copy), various user resources and Registration. The last will keep you up to date on any discounts or promotional offers.
And, don't forget to keep Everything Treo bookmarked. It's a great resource with lots of good, friendly members willing to share their experience.

Enjoy
Kevin

thanks guys.

I got it. What I did was put the palm software cd again and go to 'configure' and 'change your sync method.' I had all my contacts on palm desktop but I had Microsoft outlook. This phone is sweet. I've been playing with it all day long.

I just got it three days ago - with Verizon - the wireless sync thing is amazing!! My only complaint is the battery life - any ideas to lengthen it? I have it check my personal email accounts (3) every two hours, lowered the brightness setting, and shortened the time the screen stays on.

Any other ideas?

Thanks in advance!!

Hello kashabrown,

A couple of other ways to improve battery life:

Turn Beam Receive (IR) off.
Turn Bluetooth off.
Setting your sounds to a lower volume can help a bit.

Do you have many repeating Date Book alarms? Each time the calendar application reminds you of an alarm, your device turns on. If your Auto-off is set to 2 minutes, and you ignore 5 alarms each day, and your alarm preference is set to 3 reminders, your device will be "on" and eating battery power for 30 minutes a day - without your having touched it. If you won't be acknowledging alarms for a while, set your Alarm preferences to fewer reminder repeats, and your Auto-off to a lower setting.

Also, if you're in an area of low wireless coverage, the device will constantly search for a better signal, which uses more power. In low coverage areas, you might turn Wireless Mode off to conserve power.

I've also been reading lately that battery life appears to improve somewhat after a few charge cycles. I can't confirm that, though, only reporting what I've seen in forums, so far.

Sincerely
Kevin

Hi, Kasha. KevinMichaels gave you all the great tips.

I also have a Verizon 700p. I LOVE this smartphone even though it suffers from lag more than the 650 did.

I stream radio or Air Traffic Control comms via the Internet to the 700p almost all day long; so, the battery issue can be a problem for me as well.
To help avoid any big problems, I keep my phone plugged in while at work--where I do most of my radio/ATC streaming. And, in case I can't keep the phone plugged in, I have a backup battery and charger at work.

I happened to purchase these:
Extended Battery

Battery Charger

They help a lot.

Also, I noticed that you are using Verizon's Wireless Sync to check your e-mails. How is that working out for you?

(I ended up preferring to disable the Email feature at Wireless Sync and have my own email client (Chattermail or Versamail) check for emails every 5 minutes on their own--without going through Verizon Wireless Sync.)

Thanks very much guys!! I tried all your tips and have found that it has helped quite a bit. I think I am going to purchase the docking station so that I can charge at my desk at work.

Thanks again for your help!

Fabulous site!!

I would advise against this. A large number of users are having pairing problems with their BT devices when they turn BT back on again. The units pair, and control the phone, but the voice doesn't carry back or forth. Only workaround is a soft reset. I'd rather lose a little bit of battery life than have BT problems when attempting to answer the phone. IMHO

Just a little side note (and you may already know this)....you don't necessarily need a docking station, unless you want one. A plain old charge cable will work without a cradle. Yet another option is a USB sync cable plugged into any computer...you'll get the trickle charge on the 700p.
