Default Missed Calls and messages Alert

I'm a new user so please excuse the simplicity of my question. Is there a way to have the phone give an audible alert of missed calls? I have to periodicly check my phone to see if I have missed any calls.

Welcome to ET.com. No need to apologize for your question. I recommend Butler, an app that's great for nagging about missed calls, voicemails, SMS, or any other type of alert...and much more. It adds a lot of functionality that should have been included on the Treos, IMHO.

For beeps when you miss text messages:

Go to message centre (envelope key)
then press middle menu key (the 4 horizontal bars in centre of screen)
scroll down to message setup and select
scroll down to SMS alert and press change button
select 'on'
Hope this helps

What key are you referring to when you say the "middle menu key"? Is it a button on the keyboard or on the touchscreen?

When I hit my envelope key, it brings up the "inbox" and lists all of the chats that I have had. I don't see anything with four horizontal bars?

I would also consider using Butler - http://www.hobbyistsoftware.com/Butler-more.php - it is excellent at nagging.

I did download and use Butler. It seems to work nicely so far but it is a little quirky as far as the "chat" function in messeging is concerned.

I also just downloaded Voice Dial too. It has a bit of a hard time getting the names I say correct but it is still pretty useful. Especially in opening apps.
