Network connection sound

I dug through the board and I apologize if this has been addressed before but:
I live in an area where I get bad reception so if I leave the sound on I hear "network connected"/"network disconnected" tone constantly. I hate leaving my sound off though, it makes alarms and such nigh on useless. Is there any way to disable this "feature?"

I found the option in the sounds menu, I didn't realize you could switch applications... I guess I should have RTFM sooner : /
