| New 700p owner Hello!
New member here, have a few questions about my palm treo 700p
Not really sure where to post them, so I will start here and if I get no response, I will try posting it somewhere else...
My questions:
1.) When someone sends me picture mail and I download it to my phone, it puts a lock on it which makes me unable to assign the downloaded pic to my phone for contacts. When I try to assign these kinds of pictures to a contact, my phone shuts off and restarts...Any suggestions on how to "unlock" this pictures so I can assign them to contacts?
2.) Pictures that I receive via text messaging are protected files and I can not beam, send, share, or upload them. How do I "unprotect" them?
3.) For the first few months, I was able to beam to my husbands treo 650p. He recently got bejeweled that is better than the one from the one that came on the CD. We tried beaming it to my phone, but we keep getting this message "Could not find a receiving handheld computer." I tried beaming something to him, and we get the same result. What's the deal?
4.) What do I need to download (and from where) so I can watch youtube videos?
Thank you for any and all responses.
Signed

| The YouTube video thing is up in the air right now. Kinoma 4 EX is suppose to be able to support it; however, I have not found a download link yet. I have Kinoma 3 EX all ready, but I want to try 4 EX before buying (never buy without testing it).
As for the beam thing, it is erratic to say the least. Try Bluetooth - it really works well.
As for protecting/unprotecting, take a look at FileZ. I do not use the picture capability of MMS - I send them as email attachments with ChatterEmail.

| I went ahead and upgraded to Kinoma 4 and it does have the ability within its media manager to display the flicks on YouTube. I actually watched a few of them.
As mentioned above re sending pictures, sending as an email attachment is much, much better and affects only your data usage. Some plans charge for MMS pictures or whatever it is called.
I routinely Bluetooth between my 650/700p and laptops. It is not a fast medium but convenient it is.

| I've been having another problem.
My versamail is hooked up to my gmail account. Maybe 3-4x a week I willl get a message for new email in my account but when I go and check it, the "new" email is weeks old and it shows it like I have never opened it. What's up with that?

| Gmail and Versamail have their problems on occasion. Versamail has index problems and other problems. GMail sometimes looses track of what is new/not new in our minds when we visit it with a different email reader. I experience that problem when I download mail using SeaMonkey, ChatterEmail and so on.
May i suggest another email program - ChatterEmail is the big dog on the street. Ben

| Today I played a bit more with gMail both on the web and with the new gMail application. On the web I set it to delete messages that were picked up by POP and to make all messages available for POP transfer. What this does is lets me use the gMail Java application during the day to check gMail and then at a later time download the mail from gMail via my laptop mail reader. The files deleted after the POP transfer are only transfered to the "trash can" folder, not physically deleted, which allows me to get them later if the need should arise, as they automagically delete out after 30 days.
