Default Orange light

Just trying to remember...the orange light on the 700p means the phone is auto-updating, right?

Curious because I've seen it 3 times in the last 2 days. Seems kind of frequent for updates.

Thanks!

The phone is incapable of auto updating in the sense of updates other than the PL updating. Could it be a voice mail indicator?

Just wondering...the Sprint versions, apparently, update the PRL (I guess that is the Preferred Roaming codes, although I don't know what the "L" stands for) wirelessly. I am a Verizon customer and the only way my phone updates is by me dialing *228...or am I missing something? Is there a way for the Verizon unit to update the codes automatically?

I thought this was covered in another thread, but didn't we conclude this was a wireless update? My understanding was Verizon confirmed this, but I can't remember what I had for breakfast this morning or whether I'm wearing clean underwear. Or for that matter, whether I'm wearing my breakfast IN my underwear.

Soo... I could be wrong.

When you get the opportunity, would you mind providing some documentation on the "stealth update," I cannot find any reference to it anywhere at all. *228 does the PRL update which really is not a stealth function, it only updates the tower information. I am very confused.

All... My most humble apologies. I didn't mean to offend anyone.

I've e-mail'd Palm to get their take on the orange LED and I'll post results when I get them.

I've had the Treo since July/August and while I don't stare at it 24/7, I don't remember ever seeing the light turn red (orange), presumably the only indication of the stealth update. Is there an option that I am not aware of that permits/overrides this function? I am not on a data plan, so is there something in my set up that prohibits my Treo from wirelessly getting the updates? I would assume that the updates would be 'wireless charge free', right?

haroldo! You mean to say you DON'T stare at your Treo 24/7??? ;-}

My understanding from Verizon is that updates are data/download/minutes free.

Let me give Verizon a call to verify and I'll post back.

Everyone...

Got Palm and Verizon together and Palm says there are two reasons why the LED should turn orange:

1. May turn orange while charging.
2. Will turn orange while searching for a signal.

Yep and with one application I run you can also throw in voice mail indications orange in color and that program is Butler. I do not use my 700p as a phone very often. Ben
