Default Outlook Rookie needs help

I just got my 700p and I'm looking for information about how to keep my Palm desktop current with MS outlook.

My office uses Groupwise 6.5 and therefore I must use the Palm system if I ever want to sync my calendar etc...

I have always used Outlook as my email server and it just dawned on me that if I get new contacts and updates in my Outlook, they will not automatically sync with the Treo. Or am I missing something?

So....are we talking about one or two computers here? In general, you need to decide on any one computer whether you will sync with Outlook or Palm Desktop. You cannot sync with both. If you sync with Outlook and use Versamail, you will have to sync email, calendar, events and contacts over the air....which means you can't sync with Palm desktop. And there is no way I'm aware of to automatically update your Outlook calendar, contacts, etc from Palm Desktop. If you really use Groupwise AND Outlook (which is pretty unusual), you might consider using Business Connection (Sprint) or Express Mail (Verizon) for your email and sync with Palm Desktop.....

Thank you for the reply david. I've learned a lot in the last 24 hours. I'm attempting to
1. Sync at home with Palm desktop (successful)
2. Sync at home with Outlook so I can use my email service. Using a program called SwitchSync Ex I am able to sync with both successfully.
My issue with email is that If i'm out in the world and get a new contact in my Treo, I can sync with Palm Desktop, but so good does that do me if I can't use my email (isp is Charter). Hence the reason to be able to sync with Outlook.
3. My employer just upgraded to Groupwise 6.5 and I attempted to sync, just my calendar (that's all I need), Task list would be nice too. I loaded the Palm Desktop software and tried Groupwise PDA Connector but that failed to work. My next attempt was using a trial version of Intelisync, but alas, no good. At the end of the day, I unistalled Palm Desktop and reinstalled it because when I tried to open it would give me an Exp....something error. It still did it (the error) after the re-install.

So the bitch of it is, my wife uses intelisync with the same employer and syncs her palm treo just fine. I fear the a re-image of my office computer is in my near future.

I don't expect a lengthy reply, even if you made it this far into my tyrade, but if you have any suggestions or advice. I'm all ears.

Thanks again

If you are only worried about one contact at a time, you can manually export from Palm Desktop , in CSV form, then open Outlook and import the contact by the same manner (Comma Separated Value text) It takes a few steps and sure isnt as convenient as just sync'ing the data, but should work.
