| IMHO, I'm skeptical already, and I've only had my 700p 8 days. In eight days, I've had four resets. For no apparent reason. This falls into life's "Not Good" category.
I'm not a Windows Mobile person. I've always had Palm. But this thing's as buggy as Joe's Apartment.
kdallen is right. Uninstall was the first software I loaded. It's been a lifesaver. So far, I've deleted quite a few packages that I thought were culprits of instability.
Good luck! |

| After having PPC's for years, I'd always been jealous of the amount of 3rd-party apps available to Palm users. From what I read, that's evened out over the last couple years and some developers are going strictly WM, not knowing what Palm's supposed plans are for its OS. I like the simplicity of POS, though my Windows PPC experience was with versions of WinCE. I wanted the form factor of the Treo and the 650 was perfect for my needs. The 700p gave me the ability to use EvDO where available, without taking a step backward in screen resolution (the 700w's screen's 240x240, as opposed to 320x320 on the 700p). The wx works for some people but I'm happy with the Palm OS. By and large, resets are a function of conflicts between apps and residual files from trial periods, in my experience, with a couple exceptions. Developers worked quickly to update apps for the 700p and I've been happy with my p.

| I am willing to gamble and just return whatever is not to my liking. I just wish there was some ratio of lockups between P and W.
I got my wife's LG 8300 and signal at home is 1 bar for both ev and rx (or whatever it is).
Call quality seems fine but is that usable for data? If ev is not in range, does data just run at a lower speed?
BTW, it is nice to be back with a phone with nice features compared to my Nextel i860. |

| Slightly off-topic but does Sprint and Verizon share cell towers like other GSM providers?
I have the option of going with Sprint. The hardware costs a bit more but the monthly service, especially unlimited data, is much cheaper.
I am located in NY, outside of NYC. |

| Stupid question. So if you have the 700w you could get wifi, and if you have the 700p you have evdo? What's the difference and what's better. Or do you get evdo for both. Someone help me out on this broadband thing and how it works on these cell phones.

| So if you have EvDO on these palms, why would you want to have WiFi also? |

Don't do anything over the phone - I personally tried and didn't get anywhere....I had luck actually going into the store and talking to them face to face.
I'm telling you, that was the best decision ever. I swear, I think I'm in love with my Treo - is that possible? And lurk on these forums daily - I've tried and am still trying out most of the applications you all recommend and haven't had one problem with it yet. Well, besides the music skipping thing but I figured out what that was after reading through here. | how did you get that plan. I just went to verizon. They didn't want to give me an "early" upgrade. Besides that, the phone was $500. How did you get it down to 3 something. Also, was that before or after the upgrade? |

| Hmm...
My husband did most of the talking. For some reason, people just like him ... lol. I sort of hung back and checked out the phones and tried to decide between the 700p and the 700w.
I got the phone for $399.99 plus a $100 mail in rebate - After purchasing all my accessories - bluetooth headset, memory card, phone case, and a couple of other items - my grand total was $630.64. Alot cheaper than what I got through the online site and on the phone with them. Now I'm just waiting for my 100 dollar check (which I'm sure they'll take their time on) and I'm set.
The guy we talked to didn't argue with us or anything. My husband flat out told him what I wanted - the Palm Treo - and that we did not in any way want to pay full price on it - we explained I wasn't eligable for an upgrade for another year and didn't want to wait that long on exchanging my phone. He just went to his computer rechecked my upgrade status - confirmed what we told him and said he'd be right back.
I guess I got really really lucky then. Of course I had to sit there and listen to him and my husband talk about military experience .. which then led to a discount on our monthly service for military! I guess they have corporate discounts for certain organizations - one of which was my husbands branch of service.
The reason I picked the 700p was mostly due to how comfortable the Palm OS is for me. I am not real keen on windows - I have enough problems with it on my computers - didn't want to have to deal with it on the Palm also. I wanted to be able to sync my Palm Tx with my Treo easily and I just didn't want to be lost with the 700w - I'm sure it's pretty simple though but just didn't want to take my chances.
I have not had one problem with the 700p though - no resets - nothing that makes me want to scream - everything has just been so easy.
The one thing I haven't done is installed a uninstaller - I looked at it and sort of felt lost - so left it alone. I'm sure I'll end up regretting it later -
If I do install one now - is it too late? Do I have to reinstall all my apps and put everything (data) back on? I just have a ton of info on there and the thoughts of having to reinstall it all is mind boggling. |
