Random Restarts - Treo Forums

DAMN CHRIS... When i said its never happend to me... my fone died completely and then i had to get a new fone... now im getting random restarts... any one have this happen to them?

Not sure if you jinxed yourself or I'm responsible for a reverse jinx of sorts.

Can you trace the resets to anything in specific you've added or actions that cause it to restart?

Maybe related...

I noticed some odd behavior, including resets, on a recent trip to the outback in Ohio. In and out of the Sprint coverage area.

My 700p would hang. Most of the time, it would resolve itself in a couple minutes and start responding again.
It did reset a couple of times.

Saw the same type of stuff recently in Houston on the fringes of Sprint service (on the 40th floor and then in the Museum district, lot of trees, busy time of the day - 6pm).

I've used Palms since '96 but this is my 1st Treo so I'm still figuring out the issues of an integrated phone.

I suspect that the Treo is trying to work out the connection to the network and that this takes precedence over all other functions.
Resets may be coming from it just getting overwhelmed.

Switched the phone settings no Not Roam. Just use the Sprint network. Will see if this makes any difference.

i think i figured what was wrong with it... I think its verichat... or mRING.... one or the two.. .

Yesterday i got my 3rd... count it... 1 2 3rd Treo700p... (who said sprint customer service sucks?!) because i was tired of the fone reseting and crap... and when i got home i hotsync'd it and then it was doin the same thing... so i deleted verichat and mRing.... and it hasnt reset since... and it used to do it all the time...

Chris i think you and I jinxed myself... Damn you.. and me...

Go slow adding the apps and see if one is causing the problem. I haven't heard anything specific to either and they are both pretty popular apps. Keep it stable for a week and then add VeriChat.

I've been hearing about problems with both those apps since the 700 came out. I did hear that, supposedly, mRing had finally put out a stable version, but you know how that goes.
