Default Reading up on the music player

First of all let me say I love love love this site! I have been so clueless when it comes to my treo 700p. I have been playing with it, and just trying my best to get the music player to work. I read up on this site and realized I needed an SD Card. so I purchased one, been playing with it for about a few hours now and I still cant get the darn music to get on my treo.
I have a card reader on my laptop, so I drug my Kid Rock songs to it- popped the card back in my treo....searched for a way to transfer it, and nothing.
I have ptunes on my phone but I cant figure out how to get the darn music to it.
    Any suggestions?
Are there other free programs out there or reasonably priced ones that will serve as a good music player for me? I just shelled out alot for this phone and I cant afford to put anymore money into it just for play.

My next venture will be a GPS program. Im completely lost in the real world too! Not just the world of technology. I have pretty much done everything I can and tried it all with this phone. Im at my wits end! Any help is greatly appreciated!

oh and I forgot to say, I have tried to sync device with RealPlayer and Windows Media Player using the USB cable...yep bought it too, and havent used it. I have also used bluetooth to transfer pictures and videos to my computer, but its not working with music.

    Hi:

When you dropped the songs onto the card, did you place them in a folder? I believe you have to have songs in a folder named AUDIO for the Treo to find them.

    Hope this helps....

yay! i figured out the problem on my music player. I have to have Ptunes opened when i connect by USB before Windows Media Player can find it as a device. and on top of that I was trying to put songs from my Kid Rock CD without converting them to MP3's....I feel like a complete idiot, it only took me 5 hours to figure this out. Well I was working a little and messing with my treo but yea id say about 3 hours has been invested in to this lol.
ive got my music on it and its going!
Now my only problem is I cant get any ringtones to go in to the ringtones part. I have downloaded Audiograbber and have made the clips of the part of the song I want. but when i put it on the card it only goes to Ptunes, I cant even get it to go into voice memo. I have one ringtone on my phone, my friend texted it to me from her phone, it went into my memo section and i was able to set it as a ringtone. I tried the tutorial i found on here of emailing it to myself....but i dont have an email set up on my phone, so i sent it to my text box, no luck with that.
guess im off to call Verizon and find out how to set up my email account. I have broadband thru them so that i can use this phone as my modem for wireless internet, but OMG its soooo slow! I guess i need to figure out how to get an email client on my phone.
