Ringtone help needed

I followed the 700p ringtone tutorial using Audacity and am having some issues. I posted these in the thread, but got no responses, so I am trying again.
I get all the way to the point of tranferring the wav to the treo and into the voice memo. Voice memo doesn't recognize the format and cannot play the wav. I copy it to ringtone anyway, where it appears in my sounds list. It also doesn't play there. Any suggestions? Any new ways around this? There is nothing like having Ozzie scream "All Aboard" at the beginning of the "Crazy Train" intro to get your attention, even while walking in noisy NYC! Help!
