Screen Frozen OFF??

Hi,

Another "newbie" here. Have had my 700p for only a couple of weeks, and am adjusting to the "Learning curve" after having had a Sony Clie PDA for years, and LOVED the Palm software.

This has happened twice to me already. I leave my phone on 24/7 due to the fact I'm always expecting calls and emails. Woke up yesterday morning, the screen had turned itself off, which I know it's supposed to do. When I went to "wake" the screen by touching the phone and applications buttons, NOTHING! I tried touching every button on the phone, and the screen just stayed black. The flashing green light was on, indicating I had power and service, but nothing I did could wake the screen.

I resorted to doing a reset, and everything appears fine. As I said, this has happened to me twice in the past two weeks.

Any ideas?

Doing a soft reset/hard reset/ et cetera gets it going again, but does not take care of the problem. The problem has been half-way acknowledged by Palm. Without a lot of explanation, the device may be doing something in the background. If you are an email user and it is set to do it on a set schedule, this may happen. If you are a ChatterEmail/push mail user, this will happen. Give it a break and try it again - it will come back on.

Woke up this morning, took my fully charged, turned on 700p out of the charging cradle, touched the applications button to "wake" the screen, and NOTHING!

This time I took your advise, was a little patient, waited 30 seconds or so and tried again, and VOILA........it came on

Maybe there is something to be said for being "patient with hi-tech devises" LOL.

Yeah mine does this on occasion; however, I use ChatterEmail and it is a busy application throughout the day. In addition, a couple of third party launches (ZLauncher/Launch-Anywhere) and other things working in the background - takes a toll on the resources.
