Looking to buy an SD Card for my 700P. Any suggestions and do I have to format the card and if so, how?

    Default SD cards

There are a couple things to consider when you get an SD card. The first is size. If it's going to have a lot of multimedia-type stuff (pics, music, movies, etc.) on it, you'll want a fairly large capacity. I'd suggest a 2gig card. Plenty of room and just about any make/model should work ok. For the most part, the standard speed cards seem to do about as well as the higher-priced high speed cards (or close enough for the average user not to shell out the extra $). Prices have come down so it won't hurt your wallet too much. Even if you're just thinking work docs and stuff now, once you have it, you'll start filling it up with more.

The 700p supports some 4gig cards, if you're looking to go that large. I'd recommend reading around here and on some card manufacturers' sites for customer reviews before purchasing.

As for formatting, many will work out of the box, but I strongly recommend formatting it on the Treo before adding things. You should have no trouble after that going from Treo to desktop/laptop.

How do you format the card on the Treo? Are you automatically prompted once it detects the card?

slickdeals.net always has some links to sd card deals. I think now you can get a 2 gig kingston from frys for $17 or so after rebates. I got a high-speed 2gb for roughly $25 last week.

Insert the card, then from the launcher, go to card info. Hit the menu button and you'll see the option to format the card.
