I have done bunches of reading about cards and purchased three different brands - I keep returning to ScanDisk and their 1 and 2gb releases. The 4gb release looks nice, but an occasional problem seems to pop up with some people. You need to look for the high speed cards and that is where ScanDisk has always been consistent.
Uninstall Manager and Volume Care must be in main memory, as they must be enabled at all times in order to operate properly. Proper operation of Uninstall Manager says it needs to be the first application installed on the device and to do that on a working device, a hard reset and then one-at-a-time installation of applications must be done. Now, taking this a bit further, Northglide has released "Cleanup," (
http://northglide.com/cleanup.html) that means that you do not normally have to do a hard reset before installing Uninstall Manager if you are running "popular" applications. Cleanup is part of their Neatfreak Pack (
http://northglide.com/neatfreakpack.html), which I built up to (purchased the apps individually). It is rare that Uninstall Manager does not catch everything when it is installed after the fact, but things happen. So to answer the question, there is no way I am going to execute a hard reset and install Uninstall Manager first and then reinstall everything else - no way (unless I have really messed something up).
We all love to buy toys. My 600, 650, 700p and 700w all started out in my hands as business devices. No toys added at all. None. The 700p is the first device I have had that actually has games on it. I also believe in backing up my device with both a device based backup solution (Resco Backup -
http://resco.net/palm/backup/default.asp) and a desktop based solution (BackupBuddy -
http://www.bluenomad.com/bb/prod_bac..._details.html). If I loose the device and/or card, then unhappy I may be; however, once replaced with the same model, bringing it back to the WAY IT WAS (CBS News commercial and I DO NOT WATCH CBS OR NBS OR ABC), is a snap, 'cause I have BackupBuddy set to also back up the nightly back ups done by Resco Backup. My wife of 27 years states I am a redundant person.
Anyway, I also make it a habit of saving all of my computer related purchases in a HanDBase database that includes date of purchase, vendor, amount and registration codes. I have never had a problem obtaining a new registration code for a new device; however, I have had to pay an upgrade fee for PDANet and it seems like DataViz (
www.dataviz.com) wants to do a paid upgrade every time they release a bug fix (off topic). If you are changing to a different device series (Palm to OS) you will probably have to repurchase the application (as I did for one for the 700w that I no longer have). It also makes for good business sense to communication with developers and develop a good relationship with them. When a problem arises, ask for help, do not demand it.
Also, those sites that have download guarantees for a price - hang them. I have USB two flash drives that keep bunches of things safe.

First, I'm going to purchase my first memory expansion card for the 700p and was wondering if there's any difference between the Scan-Disk and Dane Electric cards? I thought I saw a 4GB Scan-Disk card a couple of weeks ago, but it now appears now they only have a 2GB version, which may be big enough. I did find a 4GB Dane Electric card, and was wondering if they're just as good? I've been told the "SD" variety of cards are better? They're faster?
Secondly, I'm also going to be purchasing the Uninstall Manager, and Volume Care programs, and am waiting to get the card first. Can I install these programs on to the card, and does this "order" of purchases make sense? I'm waiting to install the Uninstall (that sounds funny) Manager before I put any additional software on the device, just so I have total control in the event I want to remove anything later.
Lastly, as I continue to buy more toys for the Treo (Kinoma, Uninstall, Volume, etc., etc.,) I've begun to wonder..........what happens if I loose the device and have to collect on my insurance and get another 700p. Do I have to re-purchase all of these programs again, or do these companies offer some kind of situations whereby you can download the program again onto the "new" device if you're an existing user?
Thanks for the help.
