| security alarms triggered by Treo Hello Everyone,
The strangest thing is now happening with my Treo 700p.
When I enter or exit a business that has those security sensors in the entracne-way, the store secuirity alarms go off. Usually the security person, etc. comes running over and it is getting to be a big hassle.
An example is the entrance to Wal-Mart or Border books, etc. Any place that has a sensor alarm to help prevent theft or shoplifting, etc.
I found out it is my 700p that is triggering the alarm. Usually I will just have the security person take my phone and walk through the door and when the alarm goes off on them, they usually apologize for stopping me.
I thought it may be just when the bluetooth is on, but I turned it off and turned off the ear piece, and the same thing still happens.
It is strange, becasue it started happening about 2 weeks ago and I recently traveled to another state and it happened all the time there as well. This is getting a bit tiring, so I was wondering if anyone else has had this happen or if anyone has a suggestion on why it would happen?
Any feedback would be appreciated.
Thanks,
--Gerald |

| This is just exciting. No experience at all like that for me. Darn. My phone even went through the airport security yesterday without raising an eye brow. Ben

| Hi Ben,
I go through airport security all the time..even had my treo in my pocket once and the alarm did not go off...but these darn stores. I don't know what it is that is causing this. it happened again today.
I think I will turn the phone off next time and see what happens.
The good thing (I guess) is that the security people are starting to just wave me through the stores now instead of stopping me. hahahahahahaha
take care. |

| Lucky you on the hassle free walk through. My belt buckle has caught me before, the pocket knife at least three times and that is it. I appreciate a retail establishment's attempt to reduce theft, just wish there were one a bit more accurate. Does it do this with a regular cell phone - that would be something to rib Palm about. Ben

| Hey Ben,
I ran an experiment today:
I had started thinking about what changes I have made to my treo recently....no new software, BUT....I had upgraded to the Seidio High Capacity Battery about 2 weeks ago. It is the 3.6V 2400 mAh model.
I went to some stores today and put in the origianl battery...no alrams went off.
I then put in the Seidio and guess what happened? The alarms would go off in the store exits.
So it is something about that Seido battery. At least it is narrowed down now.
I am not sure that anything can be done, outside of my contacting Seidio. But at least we have more information now.

| Do you use one of those stickers that adheres to battery compartment that boosts the signal? Those sometimes set of alarms.
