| Speck toughskin for 700P Hello, I have an new 700P coming from Sprint and I need a case for it.
Has anyone tried the Speck Products ToughSkin w/ Holster for Treo 700p?
What do you think of it?
What would be some other options for a good case. I also under stand that the Speck is a skin not a case.
Thanks

| I bought and used the Toughskin on my "650" and thought it was a great product. It provided wonderful grips and added protection against drops. However, the size of the phone is much greater and the CLEAR rubber began to show dirt and lacked access to the SD card slot.
My thoughts, buy it, but go for the black!

| I don't have the toughskin, but i do currently have the skin tight on my 700P. What i like about it is the flip up screen protector, but i have noticed that it seemed to have streched. The phone has a little more "play" in the case than when I first bought it, which is resulting in the buttons not exactly lining up with the case at times, which is driving me crazy. I also bought a clear case and it is already starting to turn a yellowish tint from dirt after only two weeks. And I am a constant hand washer. Almost analy so. I also do not like that the phone sits on the holster facing out as the keyboard is still exposed. I therefore bought a Seidio Skinned Holster which keeps the treo facing in. The not having a slot for the SD card is also annoying. If you want to change cards for any reason, you have to take it out of the case. Also to do a soft reset. However the advantage over the clear to the black is the IR window. You can beam through the clear case, but not the black case.
Right now i am considering the Seidio silicone case with reset hole and replacement cover with reset hole. They have a complete package at their web site for the skinned holster, silicone case with reset hole and replacement cover with reset hole for about the price of the toughskin. And the Seidio has access to the card on top, so you, in theory, don't have to remove the phone from the case. The only thing is that i have been told by a friend that the silicone case is a dirt magnet.

The stretching from me getting at the SD card or battery cover eventually rendered it useless. I did like the amount of protection it gave, though. I felt pretty secure having it in my pocket at work, even when out in the woods.

Two problems: Although it worked in the skinned holster, if you hit the phone at just the right angle, it popped out of the holster. The other thing I noticed is that there are little pit marks all around the frame of the screen, I suppose from the hard plastic rubbing and hitting against the hard plastic of the treo, the paint chipped off.
I had the sena magnetic flip case on my 650, which I thought looked really sharp, but the sena case does not provide protection on the corners of the phone, and I tend to be a little rough on them as my job can be a bit frantic, and the phone tends to drop sometimes.
I have tried so many cases it is unbelievable. I have what I call my "eBay Stack" to sell off. So far the Skin Tight has worked best for my situation, but the stretching is driving me insane. I will try the silicone case with the reset hole, but don't know if I can handle the sticky feel people talk about.

| I bought the Speck this week to fit in the new Treo. It is a great produck, seems to be very secure in the holster. It can take a sec or 3 to get the phone in & out of the case. Once both tabs are around the phone I am fairly confident it will stay there.
There is not a hole for the SD card - It has turned out to be a good thing. If the card is pressed by accident it can fly out. When I am home I usually take the phone out of the case so its not a big deal.
Overall really happy with the case! For the price of the phone this seems to be one of the better cases to protect it. The few drawbacks are worth it for me! |

Daily removal isn't the way to go with skins. It stretched on me after a couple months of only coming out for resets and card removal/insertion, even with the "soak it periodically in cold water" trick.
