Default Sprint 700p Patch is ready

The Sprint 700p patch is ready for download at http://www.palm.com/us/support/downl...te/sprint.html. I will post any information I get as I update my phone and see what it has "fixed." Hopefully not "bricked." ;)

I downloaded and installed it this morning. It does seem to have gotten rid of the lags when switching apps (especially when exiting Blazer) but I lost my Powervision service. Sprint customer service got it working, but it stopped and as I write this I'm on the phone with them again.

Well...I installed the upgrade and have problems. It is in a resetting loop. It gets to the Palm logo and tells me that the phone is off...do I want to turn it on. I can say yes or no...and then the phone resets. Arg!!!!

Just be sure that if you have Warden or any other security software installed...UNINSTALL it before you download this update. It was a HUGE hassle to me. I tried to just disable it and it still ran into trouble! Hopefully that can save you some frustration!!!

I had no install issues: I followed Palm's instructions by the number including, of course, a full backup.

The second call to Sprint got my data service restored - again. After the first fix I tried to test USBModem. So this time I am going to wait 24 hours before doing that. If it works okay for a day and then loses data service after I try USBmodem, then I'll know where problem is.

I only Bluetooth with my iTrek GPS receiver and it has always been really, really slow to connect to my 700P: it made me really miss the wired GPS connection I had with the Seidio cradle and my old Treo 650. After the firmware update today, the GPS is much faster to connect. I often run the GPS and streaming internet radio at the same time (I connect my Seidio cradle to the car stereo via a cassette adapter) and the Bluetooh GPS was especially slow to connect when the streaming was going on in the background. Now, though, it's pretty quick to connect.

As I mentioned above, the lag between applications is gone. That had gotten really bad lately, and it seems to have become very noticeable when I started using Blazer more (normally I use only XIINO because it is so much faster and more user friendly).

Looks like palm pulled the update off of that link due to issues. Anyone have an updated link?

I have updated 2 700p phones with no problem. I did notice and issue with mini tones now. When trying to add the trimmed MP3 to my ringtone list, the phones resets everytime.

Gads! If Sprint's having all these issues now, imagine the resulting mayhem, chaos and anarchy that the Verizon version will unleash!

After all this waiting for the MR, I think I'll just wait some more...

The fixes in bluetooth along are worth the upgrade. Fewer resets helps as well. I did notice if u hard reset the phone before installing the MR, things go alot smoother. A palm friend of mine upgraded my 700p with software that was going thru Sprint certification and I didn't do the hard reset....the phone did encounter rolling reboots.
