Default Sprint Navigation

Can you use the 700p for Sprint Navigtion and if you can what do you need to start using this. I have the ultimate vision pack so it is included in my monthly charges...thanks!

John,

I am completely befuddled on this one. I researched the same thing today. Telenav (which is the software for Sprint Navigation) shows the 700p as a compatible phone. Sprint says it "should work".

Go to On Demand. Then click on web. This brings up your sprint account. Go to the bottom in the search field and enter nav. Hit search. Up comes the software for the navigation program. When you select it it says that "your handset is not supported at this time."

I called Sprint treo technical support and they said that they would put in a trouble ticket on it.

When I learn more I'll let you know.

Megan,

Thanks for the query into this matter. I also noticed that the 700p is compatible with sprint nav, but couldn't find any software on the palm to direct me on using it...waiting to see what you hear from CS.

I'm curious about this to. Several Sprint employees told me it would work, but after 10 years with Sprint I've learned to not believe anything Sprint employees tell me.

Default I give up on Navigation through Sprint

I spent a week on it. Today I spoke with three more people and got the following information:

Sprint called re my trouble ticket on Navigation. The guy said that it's not supported on the treo now.

Called customer service and they said it should work. Just download it by going to your account, search nav and download it. The response came back when I tried that the app was not supported at this time. If you look at the link you can see it won't work as it feeds to an html file not an app.

Technical support says it's not part of any package, it's a 3rd party vendor.

I can't get anyone in Sprint in any department that know the "right" answer. So I called telenav and went to their website. They have a lot of info for Navigation on the 700p. It does work with Sprint. What I have done is download the app, http://ota.telenav.com/ota/sn and registered through telenav for the product. They are sending the gps receiver ($100). I have one year to return it and the cost is $9.99/month (cancel any time).

This way I can see if it even works. I may end up with the little Garmin Nuvi device instead. What a pain it has been dealing with Sprint. No one knows what's going on. You can't get a straight answer. I was on hold for 30 minutes and then just had an email read to me that clarified nothing. I have the Power Vision Ultimate. It's ultimately been a pain!

Thanks for your help megan, so in order for nav to work I have to spen another $10 for the receiver and 9.99/month when it should be included in the ultimate package, hmm...not worth it in my opinion!

Hi John,

You are right, it's not worth it! I am testing it out for a couple of weeks, but so far I am not impressed at all. It doesn't connect consistently and you can't talk on the phone and use the nav. It's a C- for me right now.

The coolest thing I've set up so far is a bluetooth connection between my pda and a stereo headset. It allows me to listen to tv or ptunes, while I work out without being tethered to a headset. It's fantastic. Great sound.

See ya,

Megan
