    Default Tabula Rasa

    Hi all,

I'd like to do an experiment to reassure myself that in the event of a Treo crisis, I can get all that data I've been dutifully syncing back onto my Treo.

    I'd like to:
    1. Completely erase my Treo, as in, factory condition.
    2. Restore my contacts.
    3. Restore my calendar.
    4. Restore everything else
Step 4 is optional. I don't care about losing anything and everything else. I only want to be assured that I can restore my contacts and calendar.

Is there a way of doing this?

    Thanks!
    Pete

If you "restore" everything else, then you have wasted your time. Executing a soft reset after backing the device up is ok. After the hard reset, then you can restore ONLY the contacts/calendar and then install the applications you want one at a time - making sure you have the latest releases AND of course the registration codes.

So then a hard reset will wipe my Treo clean to factory condition?

And once I do that, how would I restore *just* my contacts (for example).

    Thanks!

A "zero-out" reset is required to completely return the device to the factory state.

For the PIM files, you can do a backup of the device, execute a hard reset and then restore only the PIM files - check your conduits for that.

If you have a device based backup application such as Resco Backup, you can use it to restore ONLY the PIM files. Resco Backup will run from the card.
