Will a 512mb card hold all of the TomTom info or do I need a 1gb?
I fit New England/Northeast and Canada on a 512mb. If you are loading just your local area, then 512MB should be sufficient. If you want to be on the safe side, go with a 1GB. Memory prices have come down a lot in the past year.

Default tomtom not working on my 700p

Hi,

it seems the conduit is corrupted when I put it on to my new treo. I had it wroking fine on my 650. When I click on the navigator icon on the treo it just flashes a white screen that looks like may have error message on it but it flashes to fast to see. How do i delete it from the 700p and start from scratch? I was going to try the steps that were suggested for loading in orginal tomtom post.

btw I have a mac

Default Palm GPS kit vs. TomTom kit

I have a few questions about the 2 different GPS kits available to use on my 700p from Sprint.

Are there any major differences between TomTom's GPS kit and Palm's GPS kit? It looks like the Palm version is cheaper (if you can find it) and even comes with the device holder. But I haven't heard anyone speak of it on here.

With either kit, is there an additional cost associated with using the GPS? It looks like there are some extras that you can subscribe to, but is there a flat usage fee for normal features?

Would like to purchase and be able to use on my vacation that starts on the 17th, please help.

I believe the difference is in the GPS Receiver -- the TomTom receiver uses SIRF III chipset. I haven't used the Palm Navigator, so cannot comment on the differences between the chipsets.

Both use the very excellent TomTom 5 software - which is just awesome!

Hello, I travel alot, how large of a memory card would be required to hold all the map's.

Is there a link to a web site that shows the size of each of the states/regions for the maps.

My goal would be Texas, Cal, and New York - Maine one one card.

I guess will SD cards being so cheap I could just have a couple with different maps on each.

Thanks

As I just found out you can't just upload certain states from your TomTom, you do regions.
There is a total of 6 regions. Don't know how much card it would take to upload the entire US. Starting with a 1GB card I'll see if I can get 5 regions.

Default couple questions for TT5 and 700p

Hello everyone.

Does anyone know if the tomtom software on the 700p is considered mobile because its a phone, or is it palm because it runs palm os?

What I mean is...

I have TT5 and have to this day used it on my axim x50v. I've never downloaded a city map before and now that i have a 700p, I just want to make sure I put the right version map on it.( I noticed on the download page you have to specify whether its a ppc, palm, or mobile)

ps. For all you TT users, I'm assuming the city maps are more detailed than the maps TT comes with?

thanks.

Shawn

I just loaded mine as Palm this week and it works great, think that is so it can do a hotsync.

Default navigator 5 vs. navigator 5 software only

What's the scoop on the difference between Nav 5 and Nav 5 Software only? Now I know at first glance of this query you might start laughing... I know I would!

What I mean is... is there a gps chipset in the sprint 700P already and thus I only need to purchase the Nav 5 Software package?

Or is it a no brainer that I really should buy the full Nav 5 for $300 and go with the receiver that I can put on the no-slip rubber mat on my dash and keep my 700P stuck to the windshield mount to see the screen?

I emailed TT support... been 2 days.. .hoping to hear something soon. Their site isn't clear at all as to which phones require the external GPS receiver vs. which do not. BOTH products have the near-identical list of "compatible" phones (650, but no 700 there yet).

Yes, you'll need either a GPS receiver that comes bundled or purchase a different receiver. Look for one that has chipset III. You idea of using a no-slip rubber mat and windshield mount is perfect.
