Default TomTom 5 Works On 700p

Just a quick note to those who use TomTom and plan to upgrade to the 700p. It works great and surprisingly I had zero difficulties activating maps on my new Treo. I expected to have problems considering it was a different Device ID. I visited http://www.ttcode.com , entered the my existing product code, new device id and received an activation code. Powered up the Bluetooth receiver and the 700 immediately picked it up. I set up my home address and had it map to Mario's Pizza. Must be something with new Treos and pizzerias. When I first got the 700w, I Google Search for Gino's Pizzeria.

So, basically it's good news for TomTom users and the 700p. Very happy because I use this app often.

My guess is that if it supports the 650 it will support the 700p.

    Default multiple phones

    Now you got me wondering.
If i bought Tom Tom for my 650 and wanted to load it on my wifes 700p would my 650 tom tom come obsolete or would it work on both phones still.
I live in utah and when i get close to the nevada border i start to roam not really anywhere to get lost when you are only driving straight but how does the tom tom work when you roam does it still navigate or are you lost until your services comes back up?

Well, I have the device ID and product activation for my Treo 650. Yesterday, I received the same info for the 700p. I assume that if I swapped my card back the 650, it would ask for a product activation based on the "old device id". Since I have the product activation code, entering that should get it running. I just changed the HotSync ID on the 650 to her name, so I'm not sure if that changes the Device ID?

So, to answer your question, I'd say that yes it shouldn't be an issue. I'm very surprised because I remember reading somewhere about upgrades causing a major problem with your TomTom product. Switching to the 700p was painless.

TomTom relies on your GPS receiver and not your wireless service. In fact, you could turn off your phone while using the TomTom and it would work just fine. It only has problems in tunnels.

Default TomTom Cust. Service says they do not support 700p

    Hi,

I just got off phone with tomtom to get new product code as I lost my old one. I have a 700p being delivered today. The person on phone said that 700p in not supported. Do you think that will change or will we have to lie and say need tach support for 650 if run into problems?

I think it's a matter of it being a new phone and TomTom now "officially" supporting it. Trust me, I used it for a trip to New Jersey today and it worked great. I'm having no troubles at all with it.

Prior to loading this on my 700p, I had it installed on a Cingular Treo 650. Never had any problems that I can recall with resets. I do get the occasional soft resets every now again, but I don't remember anything specific to an issue with TomTom. I have the app installed on my Treo and maps are of course on my SD card.

The 650 was using firmware 1.17.

    Default Card Size for TomTom

Will a 512mb card hold all of the TomTom info or do I need a 1gb?
