The operating system currently clears its memory when an application exits and there are some applications that have not been updated that do not work properly in this situation. An application such as rLock by Resco keeps it in memory, so yes, it is worth looking at. Now, with Preference Doctor/Reset Doctor, did you enable all of the options, 1, 2 & 3 (3 is not recommended; however, I use three) and did you look at the cache option and set a value there of around 3-5 mb?
When you are experiencing these resets, is it after a normal routine? For instance, is it after a backup? If so, then take a look at Resco Backup - it has been updated and works well with the 650-700p series. What it does is disables alarms during the backup, locks risky files prior to the backup, can clear the db cache after the backup and execute a soft reset after a backup. Doing this often eliminates the "random" reset that can plauge the device.

An excellent question and yes there is. My Treos are set to turn the phone on automagically after a reset and all have ChatterEmail installed and it is set to turn the radio on and connect to the data network during the boot process. I like redundancy in some things. I also have the phone dialer set to make noise when coverage is in/out and the signal fades. What this does is when the reset is done, it ends up on the default dialer screen and a tone is issued at the device's highest volume level when it turns the radio on and connects to the phone network. At any time I find the Treo on the default dialer screen after this noise is issued, then it is becaues of a reset. Now, the noise itself can happen when the device looses signal; however in that instance, the default dialer is not displayed.
The only time I routinely hear this noise is after Resco Backup has compelted the nightly backup and it executes a reset as its final action. When it connects to the phone network the noise is heard.

Try the applications I have listed above - the trial periods are good. I have all three options enabled with Reset Doctor. If that does not work, send an email to Mark, the developer of ChatterEmail. He is excellent with support. Ben
