Default Treo 700p Bluetooth Conflict Between Garmin GPS 10x & Motorola H700 Headset - Help!

I have a Garmin GPS 10x that's a month old and a newer Motorola H700 headset. They both work perfectly as does my Treo 700p. I've read that the 700p supports "multiple Bluetooth stacks" so that one can use two Bluetooth devices at the same time.

I want to know if it's possible to have my Garmin 'On,' (blue light flashing, satellite connection, etc.) and when I receive or make a call be able to listen and talk through my H700. Right now when my Garmin is on and I receive a call or make one the headset logo still appears in the top right of my Treo's screen HOWEVER the larger box logo stays as a picture of a Treo most of the time. Once in a while the logo does turn into the requisite headset however sound will not come out of the H700 nor will it accept my voice as long as the Garmin is on no matter what the logo. In order to use my H700 I have to turn the Garmin GPS unit off AND do a soft reset of my 700p. Then my H700 works perfectly.

So the Garmin 10x is in conflict with the H700 when the Garmin is On. The Garmin functions perfectly (maps, directions, etc.) when the H700 is on HOWEVER as above stated the H700 will not function listening or talking-wise until I turn off the Garmin AND soft re-boot my Treo 700p.

Tech at Sprint didn't know how to fix this or if it's possible to use both at once? They put me through to Palm Support. (No $25.00 fee because the Sprint tech stayed on the line!) The Palm tech said that despite the 700p being able to accept Bluetooth multi stacks that it still will not allow me to use my GPS & H700 at the same time. Is this true? He mentioned the possibility of Third Party Software that may allow H700 use while my Garmin is on but advanced tech was closed. He 'promised' to phone me tomorrow once he's spoken to a higher level tech. Famous last words? We'll see...

(UPDATE: If I leave my Garmin GPS on & soft re-set my Treo & call it
the FIRST call DOES ring through to my H700 & voice (sound) comes through my headset as well. HOWEVER subsequent calls (again with the GPS on) will not ring through or sound through my headset, only the first one after the soft re-set. (re-boot)

Note that I can answer the call by pressing the headset button but the ringing I hear & sound only come out of my Treo aside from that first post soft re-set call. If I turn my Garmin GPS OFF & soft re-set (re-boot) my Treo my H700 headset works perfectly as I've mentioned.

If it works on that first call there must be some way to have the
headset Bluetooth function continue on subsequent calls, no?)

Anyway, in a nutshell does anyone know how to have the Garmin 10x on and functioning and still use (get sound of and be able to talk into) a Motorola H700? I tried every which way... No dice, unless it is impossible?
If so, why not since they say the 700p CAN run two Bluetooth devices at once (multi-stacking of Bluetooth) & it works fine on the first post-re-set call I answer?

Question

I don't have a Garmin, but I also have the Treo 700p (upgraded from the 650), and a Motorola H700 Bluetooth. I've noticed that sometimes my bluetooth icon will be lit on my phone, but when I place a call my bluetooth doesn't work. I have to do it the "old fashioned way" and put the phone to my ear. I re-pair the headset and the phone and it will work for the first call, but none after that. I'm a driving instructor, so the bluetooth is a necessity for me. Could it be that the Motorola H700 isn't fully compatible with the Treo 700?

I returned my first treo 700 (activated thru Verizon) after only having it for 3 days because the phone kept locking up on me. Absolutely nothing would work...the touch pad wouldn't work, the buttons...nothing! I also purchased the Motorola H700 Bluetooth Headset at the same time I got the phone, and figured the problem I was having with my Bluetooth was because of the phone I had to exchange. But now, even the NEW Replacement Treo 700p they gave me is doing the same thing with the Bluetooth. Could it just be a bad Bluetooth??

And to toss another thing in to this mess, I have a Sprint Treo 700p with a Blue Ant Micro 3 something or other and it works without a hitch and no Bluetooth problem.

May I suggest that you keep the Bluetooth radio on and just turn off the headset. That works for bunches of people.

Default Trouble with your H700

My guess is you have a bad H700 since other than my Garmin
problem I have not had a problem with my recently purchased
Motorola H700. Actually I love it and it is so comfortable
I nearly forget I'm wearing it. Also my friend's tell me
I sound like I'm talking directly into the Treo not
through the Bluetooth mike. Perhaps you
should try a new or replacement H700?

Can I assume when you open the Bluetooth screen on your
Treo your H700 is listed as a "Trusted Device?" I don't
know if that matters but it may.

Since posting here and in two other forums I have discovered, after talking to Palm, Sprint & Garmin techs and reading other posts that unfortunately my H700 & Garmin will not function at the same time. It's one or the other. Even the Garmin tech told me so. I'm not willing to begin
testing other headsets even thought a poster said
he was able to get his H700p to function with
his Tom-Tom and another brand of GPS
but they make work differently. Most
confirmed my Garmin & H700 can't
be used at the same time. I love
my Garmin so don't want to
change to a different GPS.
And again I'm sticking
with the H700.

I did send back a $39.95 auto cradle that malfunctioned after only 3
days and bought a $99.95 Seidio with adjustable speaker, etc.
Very clear sound and it charges the Treo.

Have had it a few days and so far it works great. It comes
with a sensitive mike that fits on one's sun visor so
even though I can't use my H700 while my GPS in
running I can talk in a normal voice and it
sounds great to the listener. Of course
if my GPS isn't on, which is most of
the time, I use my H700.

In closing, I would definitely try another H700 if you like it
or another brand of headset, but again I think it's
your particular H700 that's causing a problem as
mine and others with Treo 700p's seem to
work well.

Thank you for the advice. I think I will return the headset and see if they will give me a new one since I have only had it for a week now.

I also love the H700 because, as you said, it is like you aren't even wearing it!

Thanks Again!

Oh, and good luck with your Garmin. I'd love to have one of those as a driving instructor, but the company won't spring for one.
