Default Treo 700p no longer automatically disconnects from network (BroadbandConnect)

In the past few days, my Treo hasn't needed to connect to BroadbandConnect when using Blazer or the Web -- at all. It used to disconnect after a certain period of not using data services. I have not changed any network or email settings, so I can't think of any reason why its behavior should change. While this is convenient in terms of getting information more quickly, I'm noticing a detriment in battery life. Any thoughts?

I would look at signal strength - if it is low the device may eventually give up attempting to connect. Multiple attempts to connect does cost battery life. Are you running any third party apps like ChatterEmail or an application that is set to go off-line if the signal strength is not good?

The problem is the opposite -- for the past few days, it has always been connected. I don't believe there have been multiple attempts to connect. For instance, when using Blazer, even for the first time in the day, it doesn't need to connect, it just works. I'm using Versamail, but it is not set to check email automatically. I haven't added any new apps recently.

Probably the signal strength is good. It is rare here in paradise that I experience difficulty in staying connected to the network. There are applications available that will disconnect your device from the network.
