Default Treo 700p Not HotSyncing

Okay, first some context: I recently changed computers. I had a Macbook, now I have a Macbook Pro. I haven't hotsynced in a while, since October 2007 actually... Today, I installed the Palm Software in this new Leopard-running machine and I can't hotsync or anything. When I press hotsync in the smartphone, after a while the screen reads: "The connection between your handheld computer and the desktop could not be established. Please check your setup and try again"

I have no idea what to do, and I need to get this to work tonight! PLEASE HELP! PLSS

It's hotsyncing now! Thanks jevinjim. I didn't have to take out the battery, I performed a "soft reset" and that was it... I wasn't familiar with he soft, warm, hard reset terms until you mentioned rebooting the phone and I looked it up. So thanks again.

Just curious..........when you hot sync to a Mac, how are the Contacts & Calendar saved? I mean under what program?

The reason I'm asking.................I'm just looking down the road at the prospect of having to replace my PC in the near future, and am thinking of going to a Mac.

At that time, I may also consider switching to an IPhone, but with close to 1,000 Contacts (many with pictures, mutliple phone #'s, emails, addresses etc.,) and a jammed "Calander", the thought of having to re-enter everything "manually" into an IPhone just isn't a realistic option.

I was curious if there was a way to do this, and thought that a Mac user might know?
