My first instinct is to tell you to check the settings. You may have the quality settings higher than they need to be to make a decent ringtone.

Can you give me an example of a couple of your filenames (big & small) and their sizes?

06-birdman_and_lil_wayne-you_aint_know is usually what i keep the filename as...the filesize is 1152.1k ...i changed the sound quality to the same quality as stated in the tutorial...should i go lower? but even still, we all should roughly have the same size results if we followed the steps exactly right? maybe changing the default sample rate from 32bit is the issue?

I don't see any syntax issues in your filename (though you could do without the "_"'s), so the sample rate may be it.

i just tried to change the sample format from 32 bit to 16, still no change in file size...unless someone knows, i guess imma have to just accept these big ol files man lol...

is there any particular reason why the wav file on my desktop says the file size is 868 kb, but when i upload it using yahoo and getting ready to send it to my self, the attachment size is now 1154 k

Is the old ringtone playing for known or unknown callers? When you selected the ringtone, did you select it for one group or for all groups?

both i selected it for all i think part of the problem is it cuts off after 2 seconds so it defaulted away from the .wav file

    Default "Filter Issues"

How do I stop my phone from filtering the attachment? I followed the steps up to the point of downloading the attachment. My phone keeps filtering the attachment out. I did record a voice memo and saved it as a Ringtone which worked perfectly, so I think I only need to figure out how to receive the attachment and I'm good from there.

    Great instructions!

I was wondering if you might be able to assist with a problem. When I try the file, there is no sound. I used audacity /4bit wav - stripped off the .wav and put it in the sounds directory on the phone.

If I add .wav to the file still on my pc, it plays. Any thoughts?

    Thanks,
    Mike
