| Treo Installation Questions +zlauncher Hey I have a question regarding the installation of new programs, I d/l'ed Zlauncher and was wondering how exactly it is supposed to work. Do i always have to be in the stock Palm applicaiton launcher then launch Zlauncher and then launch another program for it to be memory efficent?
thx in advance for your input. |

thx in advance for your input. | zLauncher should launch anytime you hit your "Home" key. As far as how it works, I really recommend you spend some time in the manual! zLauncher can do many things to help you manage apps on your treo, add your own bg pics, etc . . . With zLauncher installed, you can continue to press any app in it and a sub-menu will appear. One option from the sub-menu is to move the app from Ram to the Card. If the app is not inbedded in the OS, you can transfer it to the card and it will create a small shortcut on your treo, saving your memory.
The manual explains this much better than I just did . . .

| Ladferus, here's a review of Zlauncher. It should give you a pretty good idea what it's capable of. If it doesn't answer all your questions, post away.

| Also make sure you have the latest beta installed; otherwise the button assignment gets a bit screwed up. The link to the latest beta - which frankly is very stable is: http://www.zztechs.com/en/zlauncher/beta.htm
A hint - if it is a big program, then keep it in main memory due to launch time (only though if you are senstitive about launch time). If an application has interact with another application, it must be in main memory. If an application has to work with an alarm, it has to be in main memory. If an application has to work in the background (like ChatterEmail) or do something at a specific time, it must be in main memory.
ZLauncher handles multiple creator IDs and that has the capability of saving you memory. The ideal setup means you have maximum free memory at all times and convenience when it comes to launching applications in a timely manner (large programs for instance). What can be put on the card and launches efficiently from the card should be on the card.
The Quick List function is really handy and I have it set up so that those applications in the quick list function do not appear on the default/main screen. Play, read and then ask questions - it has a learning curve but once that is over come, you will find you can customize as much or as little as you need.
Also, this would be a good time to also install some applications to enhance the memory maximization and stability of your unit. ZLauncher is a tool that works very well; however, due to what it does, the db cache may suffer if you do not have applications set to take care of it (Butler's latest beta works well, rLock for those older applications that have not been updated for the 650/700p series).
With ZLauncher running and the time I spent on memory issues, I have a Treo 650 and 700p that are solid - no resets.

| Did you install the beta I point to above and then enable to as the default launcher? If you do that, it will work (if you are using another application to assign buttons, disable that application).

| I can second what Ben's saying. I used LudusP till the ZL beta came out for that very reason.
