Default treo owner to be

Hello Everyone

I dont own a treo yet but will be getting one within the next couple of weeks
Ive never owned a smartphone or a pda so this is all new to me
I really cant decide wiether to go with a 700P or the 700W or to wait for 750
to show up
the main question i have is the os
I know a couple of people that have 650's with palm os and theyre always
beaming info/memos/and contacts to each other thru IR, I like this option
but does this mean i have to run palm os in order to exchange info with them or
are win and palm systems compatable with each other ?

Also I use ms excel alot on my pc and would like to use it on the treo
would it run better on a win based phone
or can it run on a palm just as well?

Thankyou
Connor D

Apps built specifically for WM or Palm will not be compatible. Microsoft Office Documents might not be compatible if you are running docs to go on a palm and beam them to a WM device. But often times, I will drop a word document onto my SD card, plug it into the Treo and open it with Docs to go. It does the converting stuff right on the Palm. as far as excel running on a Palm, it works GREAT with Docs to go. And Docs to go is included with the Palm OS CD. I have never tried to beam a contact to a WM Treo, so I am not sure that is compatible either. The bottom line: they are both decent OS's. It really comes down to personal preference.
