Default Troubles with my new Treo

Hello all. I'm a new owner of a Treo 700p and I'm having some issues with setting up email. I had the unit freeze up on me once to the point where I couldn't turn it off so I decided to perform a hard reset (no big deal as I had no info on the unit). Today, I tried to set up email and when I press the email button I get taken to an inbox. I can't seem to find anyway to set up an account. Can someone tell me if performing the hard reset would have caused something to get lost? Did I delete something that was crucial to setting up an account? Also, I believe (not very sure) that I had a Versa mail icon on my main menu. If it was ever there, it's not there now.
Thanks.

Hello rustypixel,

This is Kevin from Palm. Because you say the icon is missing, it sounds as though you have the Verizon model of the Treo 700p. You may have to reinstall Versamail onto the Treo. All the information regarding installing Versamail and setting up an account can be found in the Palm Knowledge Library article Email setup guide for the Verizon Wireless Treo 700p smartphone. There are links to downloadable guides in that article as well.

Sincerely
Kevin

I'm not sure why you're not seeing anything related to bonus software, and as I don't use a Mac, we may need someone familiar with that end to chime in here. I wonder of it's possible to browse the CD for the Versamail file (.prc) and then, according to the Quick Reference Guide, "drag and drop the file onto the Send To Handheld droplet in the Palm folder."(p 75-76) That is the way to install an application from the computer to the device.

Thanks Kevin for your kind help. I ended up using my Wife's PC at home and used that to install Versamail. After all the headaches I DL'ed Chattermail for a test run and found that it was much more to my liking and much more user-friendly (at least for me) than Versamail.
But again, thank you for the helpful replies.

JG.
